How do you know if your PMS symptoms are normal?

PMS is commonly associated with emotional and physical changes in the one to two weeks leading up to your period. This may include irritability, mood swings, anxiety, or feelings of sadness.

For many women, these symptoms improve once their period begins. If your symptoms feel severe, interfere with your daily life, or continue beyond your cycle, it may be a sign that something more is going on.

You deserve to feel supported and understood, not dismissed.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we are here to help you navigate every stage of life with compassionate, personalized care.

What is an Anterior Placenta?

An anterior placenta is located in front of your uterus, close to the abdomen. Anterior placentas are like a cushion between your baby and your belly. This temporary organ has lots of functions, including providing oxygen and nourishment to your growing baby through the umbilical cord, and taking waste away from them.

The placenta can attach to the uterine wall in many different locations. If it's in front of the uterus, close to the abdomen, it's known as an anterior placenta. An anterior placenta won't change the shape of your pregnant belly, and it won't make your bump bigger. "An anterior placenta will usually cause no pregnancy or health complications", says Monte Swarup, M.D., FACOG.

Anterior placentas are common, and occur in about 50% of pregnancies. They don't pose increased risk to the pregnant person or baby-though the placenta position might make harder to detect your baby's kicks and heartbeat.

When was the last time you had a mammogram?

For most women, screening mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing every year. If you are under 40, it is still important to talk with your provider, as some women may need earlier screening based on personal or family history.

Prioritizing routine screenings is one of the most important steps you can take for early detection and long term health.

Make your health a priority this season and get your mammogram on the calendar. 💕

What is Robotic Surgery?

During robotic surgery, your surgeon will use a console to control the scope and surgical instruments while observing images from a camera that provides 3D views of the surgical site. Through robotic surgery, surgeons can perform even more delicate and complex procedures with extreme precision.

This kind of procedure can have many benefits, like:
✔️ Less postoperative pain
✔️Less scarring
✔️Lower risk of infection
✔️More precision
✔️Quicker recovery time

Some conditions that your provider may recommend treating with robotic surgery include endometriosis, gynecological cancer, painful periods and heavy bleeding, and more.

Feeling your baby move is one of the most meaningful parts of pregnancy, but it can also bring questions.

When will I feel movement?
Is my baby moving enough?

Most women begin to feel movement between 16 and 24 weeks. As your pregnancy progresses, your baby will develop a consistent pattern of movement. While those movements may feel different in the third trimester, they should not decrease or stop.

If you notice a change in your baby’s usual movement, it is important to trust your instincts. It is always appropriate to be evaluated.

At New Horizons Women’s Care, we are here to support you with attentive, compassionate care throughout your pregnancy.

If you have concerns, please call or text 480-895-9555 to speak with our team or schedule an appointment.

March is 💛

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of the uterus, affecting millions of women and often going undiagnosed.

While it can affect many, certain factors may increase your risk:
🌷 Short menstrual cycles (27 days or fewer)
🌷 Periods lasting longer than 7 days
🌷 A family history of endometriosis
🌷 Conditions that block normal menstrual flow
🌷 Never having been pregnant

If you are experiencing symptoms or think you may be at risk, it is important to talk with your provider. Early evaluation can make a difference in managing symptoms and protecting your long term health.

Call or text 480-895-9555 to schedule an appointment with New Horizons Women’s Care.

Are you using the right birth control for your lifestyle? 💭

Choosing the best method isn’t one size fits all. It should align with your health, goals, and daily routine.

When considering your options, ask yourself:
✔️ Do you want children in the future? If so, when?
✔️ Do you have any underlying health conditions?
✔️ How often are you sexually active?
✔️ Do you need protection against STDs?
✔️ Will you be able to use your method consistently and correctly?

The right birth control should fit your life, not the other way around.

At your next New Horizons Women’s Care visit, talk with your provider about which option is best for you. Call or text 480-895-9555 to schedule an appointment.
