Fire, marshmallows, and learning how close is “just right.” 🔥 A campfire gives teens something shared to focus on, warmth to regulate their bodies, and a natural way to practice being near others without forced conversation. Making s’mores invites turn-taking, noticing personal space, and choosing how much to engage — all core social skills, just without the spotlight. ✨ When we feel regulated and safe, connection comes more naturally.

Color counting is a simple way to support nervous system regulation. When we intentionally look for and name colors, we gently shift the brain out of threat and into the present moment. It gives the mind something predictable and neutral to focus on, which can slow racing thoughts, reduce overwhelm, and support grounding. It also brings awareness back into the body through the senses, helping the nervous system move toward regulation without forcing relaxation.
Simple. Accessible. Powerful.✨
Sometimes safety begins with noticing what’s already around us. 🌈🐴🐥

Perspective-shifting is not just metaphorical—it’s physiological.
Changing where we place our visual attention can support autonomic regulation and increase felt safety.
Equine-assisted psychotherapy offers embodied opportunities to practice regulation through relationship, environment, and presence.✨🐴

At Gideon’s Care Farm, we combine play therapy, somatic experiencing, and equine work to meet clients where they are and support whole-person healing. Being outdoors with animals invites curiosity, encourages movement, and creates natural opportunities for mindfulness & presence. Equine experiences help clients face fears and build confidence — whether it’s caring for a horse or simply being present with one like this here Cookie Monster! 💙 if you or your loved ones are in need of therapy, please reach out to us to find out more information of how to get started!

Therapy doesn’t always have to happen on a couch. Sometimes it happens in the dirt, under open skies, beside a steady heartbeat.♥️

Grief doesn’t need fixing—it needs space, safety, and presence. This coming year, I’ll be offering day grief retreats for individuals and families, rooted in somatic experiencing, nature-based healing, and the quiet wisdom of horses like Gideon. Together, we’ll slow down, listen to the body, and allow grief to be witnessed and processed in connection, not isolation.❤️ please reach out to us at gideonscarefarm@gmail.com if you’re interested in doing this for yourself or your family & we would love to send you more information.

Technically the shavings are for the horses… but the chickens see them as an open-ended play invitation.🐔✨ Watching them scratch, roll, and explore is a sweet reminder that play is regulating, enriching, and essential—no matter the species.
