Happy Birthday to True Direction Counseling! Two years ago today I opened my business at our Seville office with a simple dream and hope that people would take a chance on that dream. Now, two years later we have grown from a single practitioner practice to a team of 11 incredibly talented clinicians. We are so grateful for all of the support over the years from colleagues and clients who trust us to help their clients, friends, families, and of course themselves. So here is a look at where we started vs where we are now

We are happy to announce some amazing additions to our team of clinicians! All of these clinicians are currently accepting new clients. Please let me introduce you to:

Sarah Hernandez, LMSW-T. Sarah works with adults and is available for telehealth and in-person appointments. Sarah has been working in the mental health field for many years and is excited to continue to offer mental health services as a licensed therapist. She accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, private pay, and Open Path clients.

Kelsey Wendland, LCSW-T. Kelsey recently moved to Arizona from out-of-state and is excited to build her caseload with us! Kelsey works with individuals ages 6-26 and is our first EMDR provider. She is offering both in-person and telehealth appointments. She accepts Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, private pay, and Open path clients.

Tirzah Alva Jaconski, LPC. Tirzah works as a school counselor by day and is excited to get back into the private practice world by night (and weekend). Tirzah works with children, adolescents, and their parents. She is currently only accepting private pay, sliding scale, and Open Path clients, but is working on credentialing with Optum, UMR, United Healthcare, Aetna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. She will hopefully be credentialed with all of these insurances in about 30-60 days. She is able to provide a superbill for out-of-network billing until she is listed as in-network.

Our clinicians are excited to get back to offering in-person sessions again at our new location! We can't wait to see all our our new and former clients at 4365 E. Pecos Rd. Suite 119 Gilbert, AZ 85295

Our mask policy is as follows: because we have staff who are immunocompromised we ask for everyone to please bring a mask to wear in the common spaces of our office. When back in your clinician's office, your therapist may allow you to remove your mask if you have been vaccinated. We continue to offer telehealth sessions (as we have always offered this service) for anyone who does not feel comfortable wearing a mask and does not meet criteria for not wearing a mask.

True Direction Counseling is moving! Even though we did not get to utilize our space over the past 15 months, the time we spent in our little offices in the Seville space will always hold fond memories for us. Unfortunately, that location does not have enough space to accommodate the growth of our practice, so we will be moving to our new location in July. Along with this move, most of our therapists will begin transitioning back to offering in-person sessions. Each therapist has a different time frame regarding when and how they will go about doing that transition, so please contact your individual therapist for more information.

True Direction Counseling is continuing to grow to meet the needs of our community! We have added two new and talented clinicians to join us. Both of these clinicians are currently accepting new clients.

Adam Holman, LCSW works with individuals ages 14 and older. He works with a variety of issues, but also holds specialized training in addictions, including electronic addictions. He is currently out-of-network with insurance companies, but is working on credentialing with all of our accepted insurance plans (BCBS, United, Optum, UMR, and Aetna). Adam is currently working online, but will eventually be transitioning back to in-person later this summer.

Eder Perez, LAC is exclusively a telehealth provider. Eder will be offering convenient evening hours. He will work with older adolescents and adults and is passionate about working with the Hispanic community. Eder is currently only private pay, which includes working with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective and sliding scale. Eder will be offering insurance options in the near future.

True Direction Counseling is excited to announce that we are adding an amazing counselor to our team. Angela Seaman, LAC, NCC will be starting with us on April 12th. She will accept BCBS and Aetna insurance plans. For now she will be conducting her sessions online via video with the plan to eventually move back to in-office sessions. This is so imperative. We don't have to be at 100% all the time. Some days we are at 10% other days at 90%. We are just looking for a healthy average between our good days and low days, so we are allowed our low days.

Most of the rules we use to qualify our behaviors are completely arbitrary made up rules. If there is anything that we need to take from the dumpster fire of 2020 is that those rules aren't there to serve us. Do what you need to survive and thrive.

We are excited to announce the addition of our two newest clinicians to the True Direction family! Cathy Hunter, LPC and Julie Haggerty, LPC are both amazing clinicians who are excited to get to work serving the Queen Creek, Gilbert, Chandler, and surrounding communities.

Cathy is currently credentialed with United Healthcare and is at the end stages of her Blue Cross Blue Shield credentialing. She also partners with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, offers a sliding scale, and private pay is welcome. Cathy works via telehealth exclusively and works with individuals 6 and older.

Julie is currently in process with credentialing with insurance companies, but is not in-network at this time. She partners with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective, welcomes private pay, offers a sliding scale, and can provide a superbill for out-of-network billing. Julie is working via telehealth currently because of COVID-19 and sees individuals 10 and older. Julie holds a license in Arizona and Utah so she can accept clients from both states.

September 1st holds a special place in my heart, not only because it is the first day of school for Hogwarts attendees (my fellow Harry Potter fans know what's up), but it is also the first day that I opened True Direction Counseling's doors. This year I have had the honor of working with the most amazing clients who work hard at accepting and choosing themselves every day. I am now honored to work with two other colleagues and another who is working on coming on board. I never imagined that my practice would have seen this growth in just one year's time and I know I have many people to thank for it. So thank you to my family, friends, colleagues, and clients who helped make this dream a reality.
