This is such a great perspective on why behavioral therapies may not work for your PDA child.

Our focus is on the nervous system and taking the pressure off through coregulated adults. Give them safety and see the results.

Walk when:
- you’re having a difficult conversation
- you just got bad news
- you’re with a child who’s having a tantrum or a huge reaction “ok let’s walk together” get them moving
- you’re having therapy (if using telehealth or by phone especially)
- you’re feeling irritable and don’t know why
- you have to give someone bad news
- you wake up groggy
- you have brain fog or feel like your brain is “shut off”
- you want to text something you might regret
- you have to make a big decision
- your brain won’t stop replaying the conversation
- you want to connect with consciousness, god, or the universe
- you want to forgive yourself

Why nature is so important for learning

According to scientific research in nature therapy and ecopsychology, interacting with natural environments can significantly support mental, physical, and functional health. Studies show that hearing birdsong can improve focus and restore cognitive energy, while exposure to green spaces can lower heart rate and blood pressure, reflecting our innate biological connection to nature.

The scent of trees, through compounds like phytoncides, has been found to reduce cortisol levels and decrease anxiety, and contact with soil microbes such as Mycobacterium vaccae may help stimulate serotonin production in the brain.

While practices like grounding, or walking barefoot on grass, show some emerging evidence for reducing inflammation, the research is still developing, but exposure to morning sunlight is well established in regulating circadian rhythms and balancing key hormones like melatonin, serotonin, and cortisol.

Overall, these findings suggest that simple, everyday interactions with nature can play a powerful role in supporting the nervous system and overall well-being.

Why nature connects us…because we are nature ❣️

Why nature connects us…because we are nature ❣️

Look closely, and the connection runs deeper than it first appears. The molecules in your blood and those in a leaf follow the same fundamental chemical rules. The DNA that shapes your body and the DNA that tells a seed to sprout are written in the same biological language. Even the way cells divide, breathe, and repair themselves comes from ancient processes that existed long before animals or plants ever emerged.

So when you stand in a forest, you’re not looking at something truly separate. You’re surrounded by distant relatives—life forms shaped by time and environment into versions that seem completely different. Strip away the surface, and what remains is the same cosmic origin, the same shared chemistry, the same ancient evolutionary story branching in ways nature itself could never have fully predicted.
