Even “old” or “unchanged” spots can hide serious skin cancers.

This patient had this lesion for years before it was biopsied by Dylan Irish, PA-C, and confirmed as lentigo maligna. This is an early form of melanoma most often found on sun-exposed areas like the face.

☀️ These lesions can slowly develop over 5–20 years before advancing, making early detection essential.

🔎Dermoscopy Features: Symmetrical pigmented follicular openings, Concentric circles, and Structureless areas.

➡️ Get your skin checked regularly, especially if you’ve had years of sun exposure. Regular skin checks save lives.

✨ Before & After: Treating Alopecia Areata with ILK Injections & Topical Medication ✨

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune condition that causes patchy hair loss on the scalp, beard, or other areas of the body. For many patients, it can be emotionally distressing; however, with the right treatment plan, regrowth is possible.

📸 Before Treatment:
Patients often present with one or more well-defined, round or oval bald patches. The skin is usually smooth, without scarring. In more severe cases, these patches may expand or multiply.

🩺 Treatment Plan:
While every patient’s care is tailored to their unique needs and concerns, a common approach may include:
💉 Intralesional Kenalog (ILK) Injections – A corticosteroid injected directly into the affected areas to calm inflammation and suppress the immune response targeting hair follicles.
🧴 Topical Medications – Options may include corticosteroid creams, minoxidil, or immunotherapy agents to stimulate regrowth and maintain results between injections.

📆 Treatment Timeline:
Some patients begin to see visible improvement within 4–8 weeks of consistent treatment. Injections are often repeated every 6 weeks, but this varies based on the individual’s response.
