Dermatographism is the most common form of physical urticaria, affecting about 2–5% of the population. It’s classified as a subtype of chronic inducible urticaria, meaning symptoms appear only after a specific trigger and in this case was light pressure or friction on the skin.

This “wheal-and-flare” response develops quickly, often within 1–2 minutes of provocation and occurs when mast cells in the skin release histamine and other inflammatory mediators in response to mechanical stress.
