A tiny spot, a big catch. 👏

During a routine skin check, our PA Dylan Irish spotted this tiny pigmented basal cell carcinoma (a type of skin cancer.) At just 2 mm, it was small enough to look like a simple freckle. The purple you see in the first image is ink used to mark the site for biopsy. It’s a powerful reminder that skin cancers can be incredibly small, yet still serious, and why early detection is so important.

🔎Dermoscopy features include a spoke wheel pattern and blue ovoid nests.

💡Remember to get your skin checked regularly and don’t ignore a spot that just "looks like a freckle".

Poikiloderma transformation 💫

🔎 Poikiloderma is a skin condition marked by reddish-brown pigmentation, skin thinning (atrophy), and tiny visible blood vessels (telangiectasias). It commonly appears on sun-exposed areas like the neck, chest, and face. While often considered asymptomatic, some people may experience itching or burning which many say makes both the look and feel of their skin a daily concern.

This patient saw Courtney, RN, CLT, to treat his Poikiloderma, and after 8–10 sessions with VBeam laser his skin is visibly calmer, clearer, and more even-toned.
