Scoliosis care is not limited to one type of brace.

At ScoliCare, different braces are designed to support different spine conditions, curve locations, and patient needs. 🩺

While many people are familiar with the full-length TLSO ScoliBrace, other options may include braces for thoracolumbar curves, lumbar spine support, nighttime bracing, kyphosis, postural concerns, and infantile scoliosis.

The goal is to match each patient with the brace that best fits their condition, lifestyle, and treatment plan.

What to expect at your first scoliosis assessment.
A first scoliosis appointment is a chance to better understand what’s happening with the spine and what the next steps may be. 🩻

To help your clinician, bring any previous X-rays, scans, reports or relevant medical history. It can also be useful to write down questions about symptoms, posture changes, treatment options, bracing or scoliosis-specific exercise. 📋

For children and teens, having a parent or support person there can also help make the appointment feel easier. 👨‍👩‍👧

Every scoliosis case is different, so the goal is to understand the individual situation and provide clear guidance based on age, curve type, symptoms and goals. 💬

If you’ve noticed posture changes, an assessment can help provide clarity. ✅

Scoliosis is not always painless.

As the curve progresses, it can contribute to ongoing back, neck, or muscle discomfort. 🦴

For children and teens, pain may affect movement, posture, and daily activities. For adults, scoliosis can also lead to stiffness, tension, and chronic discomfort.

The good news is that the right care can help.

Scoliosis-specific exercises, bracing, and personalized treatment plans may help manage pain and support better spinal health.

Can KyphoBrace® help support posture and kyphosis?

KyphoBrace® is a custom 3D corrective brace designed for people with hyperkyphosis, Scheuermann’s kyphosis and related postural changes.
Using 3D scanning and CAD/CAM design, each brace is made to suit the individual’s spine, posture and treatment needs.

KyphoBrace® may help support:
✔ Improved posture
✔ Better sagittal balance
✔ Reduced mid and lower back discomfort
✔ Curve stabilisation or reduction in some cases
✔ A personalized, non-surgical approach to kyphosis care

Every case is different, so an assessment can help determine whether KyphoBrace® may be suitable.

Scoliosis can affect both boys and girls. 👦👧

One common myth is that scoliosis only happens in girls, but boys can develop it too.

During the juvenile years, scoliosis rates can be similar between boys and girls.

But during adolescence, scoliosis is more commonly seen in girls, who make up around 80% of diagnosed cases. 📊

That is why early screening matters.

Girls should typically begin routine scoliosis screening around age 10, while boys should begin around age 11. 📅

If scoliosis runs in the family, screening may need to start earlier, around age 8 for girls and age 9 for boys. 🕒

Early detection gives families more options and helps treatment begin before the curve has a chance to progress.

At ScoliCare East Phoenix, we provide education, screening, and personalized scoliosis care to support better long-term spinal health. 🧑‍⚕️

Can scoliosis affect more than posture?

Scoliosis mainly affects the spine, but in severe or atypical cases, it can also impact the rib cage and the space around the heart and lungs. This is more commonly linked to larger thoracic curves, where rotation and rib cage changes may place extra pressure on the chest cavity.

That’s why early assessment is so important.

The earlier scoliosis is identified, the more opportunity there is to monitor progression, understand the curve, and explore treatment options before symptoms become more established.

Sleeping with scoliosis can feel uncomfortable, especially when your spine needs extra support at night. 🌙

Small adjustments can make a big difference.

If you sleep on your back, try placing a pillow under your knees to help reduce pressure on your lower back.

If you sleep on your side, place a pillow between your knees to support better spinal alignment. 🛏️

A calming bedtime routine can also help your body relax.

Try reducing screen time before bed, keeping your room comfortable, and giving your body time to settle. 📵

For those wearing a scoliosis brace, using 1 pillow under the head and adding supportive pillows around the body may help improve comfort and stability while sleeping. 🛌

Better sleep starts with better support.

These simple changes can help make rest more comfortable for people living with scoliosis. 👍

Scoliosis pain can often be managed with small daily habits that support the spine. 🦴

Staying active, improving posture, changing positions often, and avoiding repeated one-sided movements can all help reduce discomfort.

Gentle stretching, self-massage, and proper lifting techniques may also support better mobility and less muscle tension.

For ongoing pain, working with a scoliosis-trained specialist can make a big difference. Personalized exercises and rehab can help improve posture, strength, and long-term spinal health. 🩺

Small changes today can lead to better movement, less pain, and more confidence in your body. 💪

Not all scoliosis is the same.

While the most common type is idiopathic scoliosis, some cases are considered atypical, meaning they may be linked to an underlying cause, such as neuromuscular conditions, congenital spinal differences, or degenerative changes in the spine. 🩻

Atypical scoliosis can often be more complex, which is why an individualised approach matters.
At ScoliCare, treatment plans are shaped around each person’s age, curve type, severity, symptoms, and overall needs. Care may include scoliosis-specific exercise, corrective bracing, monitoring, or referral for further medical input when needed.

✨ The key message?
Early assessment helps you understand the type of scoliosis and the best next steps.

If you or your child has been diagnosed with scoliosis, or you’ve noticed posture changes, book an assessment with ScoliCare.

Last week, Dr. Sanghyun Ju from ScoliCare North Carolina joined us at ScoliCare East Phoenix for a full clinical immersion experience — and the energy it brought to our team was something special.

Clinical immersion means getting into the room, observing approaches you wouldn't otherwise see, having real conversations about care, and walking away with ideas that sharpen how you show up for every patient.

Every ScoliCare clinic is unique. Every clinician carries a wealth of experience. When those worlds meet, our whole network gets stronger — and so does the care we deliver to people living with scoliosis and hyperkyphosis.

Welcome to the ScoliCare family, Dr. Ju. ScoliCare is lucky to have you. 💪

Can yoga or Pilates fix scoliosis?

They can improve flexibility and strength, but they are not enough to treat scoliosis on their own, especially in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis. 🧘‍♀️

Clinical guidelines from the International Society of Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment emphasize that scoliosis-specific exercises and bracing, when needed, are key to effective treatment. 🏥

Yoga and Pilates work best as supportive activities alongside a structured care plan guided by a specialist.
