Yadi has been working with us for 1 year now! For those of you who don’t know this beauty, she is our Director of First Impressions. She has a thousand different responsibilities at Elevated but her most important job is to make our patients feel welcome, safe and heard. She will likely be the first one you see when you walk through the door and the first voice you hear on the phone. She is also our baby holder (probably her favorite part of the job), making new moms feel at ease during visits. She helps us with several important business and insurance tasks when not talking to patients. She is also a devoted wife and mother of 2 young kids. She has so many skills beyond her work and she is always making us laugh. We feel beyond lucky to work with her and proud that she is part of our team. Thank you so much Yadi!!

How would you know that you’re better? What would that feel like? What would you be doing?⁣

So often, when injured or in pain, we focus on the problems: what hurts, why it hurts, prognosis, and what we can’t do anymore. While it’s essential to know what is driving a problem, hyper focus on it is destructive. ⁣

We often encourage patients to work on their belief that they can get better. One of the best parts of our job is hearing patients say, “I never thought I’d be able to do this!” Well we did. We believe you can get better. We’ll do everything we can to help. ⁣

🌿 Fiber: Your Gut’s Best Friend! 🥦🍎

5 grams of fiber is just one large apple a day! Did you know that fiber is essential for a happy, healthy gut? It keeps your digestive system moving, prevents constipation, and feeds your gut microbiome—the trillions of beneficial bacteria that support your overall health! In fact, about 70-80% of the immune system is located in the gut! The gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) plays a crucial role in immune defense by interacting with gut bacteria and monitoring harmful invaders.

✨ Why You Need More Fiber:
✅ Supports Regularity – Helps prevent constipation by adding bulk to stool and keeping things moving.
✅ Feeds Good Bacteria – Prebiotic fibers nourish your gut microbes, promoting a balanced microbiome.
✅ Reduces Inflammation – A healthy gut can help lower inflammation and support immune function.
✅ Regulates Blood Sugar – Slows digestion, preventing spikes and crashes.
✅ Aids in Weight Management – Keeps you feeling full and satisfied longer!

🥕 Fiber-Rich Foods to Add to Your Diet:
✔ Whole grains (oats, quinoa, brown rice)
✔ Fruits (apples, berries, pears)
✔ Vegetables (broccoli, carrots, spinach)
✔ Legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas)
✔ Nuts & Seeds (chia, flaxseeds, almonds)

Aim for 25-38g of fiber daily and your gut will thank you! 🌱💚 What’s your favorite fiber-rich food? Drop it in the comments! ⬇

You don’t always need heavy weights to build strength, tone muscles, or improve endurance! Lifting 5 lbs or less can still deliver serious benefits:

🔥 Better Muscle Activation – Slow, controlled movements engage stabilizers for lean strength. It activates the pelvic floor beautifully.
💪 Less Joint Stress – Perfect for injury prevention & longevity.
⏳ More Reps = More Burn – Light resistance keeps muscles under tension longer for great results.
🧘‍♀️ Mind-Muscle Connection – Focus on form, control, and movement efficiency.

Whether you’re sculpting, recovering, or just starting out, light weights go a long way! Who else loves a high-rep burn?

**✨ How to Crush Your Fitness & Health Goals in 2025 ✨** ⁣

A new year = new opportunities to prioritize YOU! Setting the right goals is the key to success, so let’s make them work for YOU, not against you. Here’s how: ⁣

**1. Be Specific** ⁣
“Get fit” sounds great, but what does it mean for YOU? Try: *“I’ll work out 3 times a week for 45 minutes”* or *“I’ll add one serving of veggies to every meal.”* ⁣

**2. Make It Measurable** ⁣
Track your progress! Whether it’s steps, reps, weights, or meal prep days, having something to measure keeps you motivated. ⁣

**3. Start Small** ⁣
Big changes come from consistent habits. Instead of *“I’ll lose 20 lbs,”* focus on *“I’ll drink more water”* or *“I’ll do yoga twice a week.”* ⁣

**4. Stay Realistic** ⁣
Life happens! Choose goals that challenge you but fit into your routine. Progress beats perfection every time. ⁣

**5. Stay Accountable** ⁣
Find a buddy, join a group, or track your journey on social media. Sharing your progress = extra motivation (and maybe some cheerleaders). If you need more help we’re here for you. ⁣

**6. Celebrate Wins** ⁣
Big or small, every step counts. Treat yourself to something non-food related—a new workout outfit or a fun class. ⁣

You’ve got this! What are your 2025 health and fitness goals? Drop them in the comments—we’d love to cheer you on! ⁣

Happy Physical Therapy month!
A Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) is a highly trained healthcare professional who specializes in improving movement, function, and quality of life for patients with various physical conditions. The path to becoming a DPT involves rigorous academic and clinical training, focusing on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular issues.⁣

DPTs complete a three year training offered by an accredited physical therapy school. They complete several clinical rotations: These rotations cover specialties like orthopedic, neurological, pediatric, pelvic health and geriatric therapy. After all of that they need to pass a licensing exam.⁣

DPTs can practice in specialized areas like sports medicine, pediatrics, neurological rehabilitation, geriatrics, or women’s health.⁣
Both Lee and Jordan have specialty certifications related to pelvic health. Lee is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Women’s Health PT, which requires hundreds of hours of practice in pelvic health and completion of a board exam. ⁣

Overall, a Doctor of Physical Therapy plays a crucial role in improving patient mobility, function, and quality of life through non-invasive treatments. They are integral to rehabilitating individuals recovering from injury, surgery, or dealing with chronic conditions. We LOVE what we do and have worked hard to get here.

When you get a medical diagnosis and it helps you to ask questions, sparks your curiosity and helps you to find people who can help, the naming can be useful. ⁣

If, on the other hand, your diagnosis shuts a door to recovery and causes you to believe that you can never improve, usually based on your own notions of what it means or based on what the provider tells you, the diagnosis can be a cage. ⁣

We often see patients who believe their pain will never go away. Often this idea is planted at doctor appointments (and it is not the intended message). Understanding pain, its complexity, and how different people need different things is vital in reducing symptoms. If you feel boxed in by your diagnosis please seek curiosity and ask more questions. ⁣

We’re here to help. ⁣

Jordan and Lee did a deep dive into the va**nal microbiome research this week! There are several fascinating and important findings:⁣

1. While there are many kinds of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa in the va**na, healthy va**nas are dominated by an abundance of Lactobacillus Crispatus. ⁣

2. “Dysbiosis” or imbalance of the bacterial composition in the va**na is associated with increased rates of: BV, UTIs, yeast, pelvic pain conditions, pre-term labor, and nearly all STIs (especially HPV).⁣

3. Oral probiotics (especially those with the most important kinds or lactobacilli) are helpful in reducing risk for and recurrence of va**nal infections, especially BV.⁣

4. Things that influence your va**nal microbiome include: your mother’s va**nal environment, antibiotic use, medications, birth control type, diet, stress level, ethnicity, genetics, age, estrogen level and menstrual cycle, pregnancy, sleep, Diabetes, oral s*x, douching, tampons, menstrual discs, self treatment with anti fungals and other cleaning practices. ⁣

5. Hormones have a profound impact on the va**nal microbiome and can cause large shifts in what bacteria are present. Increased Estrogen supports Lactobacillus!⁣

6. Unlike the gut microbiome, the va**nal microbiome is characterized by low bacterial diversity but high Lactobacilli.⁣

7. At least 2/3 of the time, your self diagnosis (yeast, BV, UTI) is wrong. Always go to your medical provider and get a swab/ culture and treat correctly. ⁣

We love helping women navigate the information, choose the right supplements, and understand how behaviors impact their va**nal health. Don’t buy the first thing that pops up on your feed! If you want more information and education, call us to schedule at 307-682-2500.

Understanding Hypermobility and Pelvic Floor Health.

Let’s dive into a lesser-known aspect of hypermobility today – its impact on pelvic floor muscles.

Hypermobility syndrome can lead to increased flexibility in joints and connective tissues including those in the pelvis. While this sounds beneficial, it can actually result in overuse and strain on the pelvic floor muscles.

Here’s how it happens: when joints are hypermobile, the body might compensate by tightening or overworking certain muscles, including those in the pelvic floor. Over time, this can lead to pelvic pain, discomfort, constipation and more. 😕

Awareness and proper management are key! If you suspect hypermobility might be affecting your pelvic health, consulting with a healthcare provider or a pelvic floor specialist can provide valuable insights and guidance.

At Elevated Pelvic Health we especially equipped to treat those with hypermobility. We love to use Pilates-based strengthening and tailored exercise prescriptions. If this is you call us at 307-682-2500.
