HOW DO THE ELECTRODES WORK?
The i-digits™ myoelectric partial hand prosthesis helps people move their fingers again using the muscles in their forearm. Small sensors inside the prosthesis pick up tiny signals from these muscles when the person tries to move their hand. A computer inside the device reads these signals and turns them into finger movements. This means the user can open, close, and move their fingers just by thinking about moving them—just like with a natural hand. The device fits the person’s hand and arm comfortably and lets them do many daily tasks, like picking things up, typing, or holding a cup, with better control and ease.
