A natural caregiver with a heart for service, Mikele Wissel has built a career grounded in compassion, leadership, and dedication to others. As HHA Manager and CNA at Healing Hearts Home Health, Mikele plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive the attentive, respectful care they deserve—while lifting up her team every step of the way.
A proud Wyoming native, wife, and mother of two daughters, Mikele began her journey in healthcare early, volunteering at an assisted living facility in Rock Springs at just 14 years old. That spark of service quickly became a lifelong passion. In 2022, she joined Healing Hearts as a homemaker, eager to grow. Within months, she earned her CNA and HHA certifications, and her talent for connecting with patients and empowering her colleagues stood out. Soon, she was invited to step into leadership as HHA Manager—a role she embraced with energy and purpose.
Mikele now oversees CNAs across the agency, managing schedules, providing support, and jumping in to see patients in the field when needed. But her impact goes far beyond logistics. She is a hands-on, heart-first leader who listens deeply, observes closely, and encourages constantly. Whether it’s a shoutout for a job well done, a timely pep talk, or a reminder that every question is welcome, Mikele creates a culture where learning, positivity, and teamwork thrive.
“I’ve worked in places where I didn’t feel heard,” she shares. “I never want my aides to feel like that. I'm constantly letting our staff and patients know that I am always just a call away if something is needed.”
Mikele’s leadership has helped many aides grow in their careers, especially during challenging times. Her team knows they can count on her for encouragement, guidance, and a steady presence. With aspirations to become an RN in the next five years, she leads by example—always learning, always growing, and always giving back.
Celebrate Mikele and all of this year’s nominees at the Black Cat’s Golden Gala on Saturday, September 20.

Emily Caro, MOTR/L, is a spark of energy, compassion, and determination in the heart of Wyoming’s healthcare landscape. Known affectionately as “the red-headed pixie” or “the fiery redhead” by patients and colleagues alike, Emily is not only an accomplished occupational therapist — she is also a trusted leader, community collaborator, and passionate advocate for quality care at home.
With a decade of healthcare experience spanning direct support, caregiving, and therapy, Emily has brought her talents and heart to Wyoming — a place that quickly became her forever home with her husband and 1 year old. As an Occupational Therapist and Clinical Manager at Healing Hearts Home Health, Emily works daily with patients of all ages, helping them reclaim safety, function, and joy in their everyday lives. From mobility and memory to chronic pain and home safety, Emily’s care is both comprehensive and customized.
Her approach is rooted in empathy and creativity. Whether she’s finding adaptive tools, problem-solving a home modification, or empowering a family with education and resources, Emily's mission is clear: help people live meaningful lives at home, where comfort, dignity, and independence thrive.
Emily leads with intention and authenticity. Guided by her professional compass of positivity, laughter, honesty, and ethics, she fosters a work environment built on trust, growth, and transparency. She challenges herself — and encourages others — to ask the hard questions, celebrate the good, and embrace change with curiosity and grace.
Beyond her direct role, Emily collaborates with health care teams, case managers, grant and state programs, and local organizations to make sure her patients get the support they need — even when it’s outside the scope of her job description. She is a true connector and advocate, working behind the scenes to remove barriers and create solutions for those she serves.
Emily’s love for occupational therapy is evident in everything she does. “Not many people wake up every day and feel as lucky as I do,” she shares. Her gratitude shines through in her ongoing commitment to professional growth, evidence-based care, and a belief that healthcare must evolve to meet people where they are — physically, emotionally, and practically.
Help us honor Emily and other incredible local leaders at the Black Cat’s Golden Gala on Saturday, September 20.
