I’ve been on somewhat of a break here with Wonderfully Well. After relocating to DC and starting a new job, there’s been a lot of reflecting on my part on what I want my work life and business to look like.

I’m still not totally certain, BUT, I know another piece of the puzzle!

Over the weekend, I engaged in one of the most valuable professional trainings I’ve ever participated in, in any of my disciplines! from has allowed me to become a Size Inclusive Fitness Specialist! This means I now am well-versed on how to help make fitness accessible to EVERYONE, in all shapes and sizes of bodies.

Look for more content and opportunities to work with me specifically in fitness, and in the meantime, I’d love to know:

What activity would you love to do if you knew it would be accessible in the shape and size of your body as it is right now?

IT’S HAPPENING.

I, the Jamie of , am relocating to Washington, DC, at the end of March!

Wonderfully Well will continue to exist! But, it will be transitioning to be 100% virtual. I’ll maintain my Wyoming license for the foreseeable future, and will also be applying for a DC license.

I’m so thankful that I’ve been able to build my small business and serve this community, and I’m excited for upcoming changes!

As always, you can reach me through WonderfullyWell.life or at (307) 710-6790.

“You seem happy, but I could never just be okay with my body like *this*.”

People have said iterations of this to me on occasion, and I’m sure it’s a thought people have WAY more often than that.

It seems to be rooted in fear: fear that if they stop striving to control their bodies, nothing will be alright. It’s a valid concern - we’re conditioned from childhood to believe that large bodies are out-of-control bodies, and things can’t possibly be okay in such a body.

Anything I say counter to that sounds like woo woo, ridiculous positivity. But here’s the thing - there’s so much research backing up HOW and WHY body acceptance and positivity are beneficial.

More Than A Body is a book written by two women who have done extensive, valuable research on JUST THIS TOPIC. Join us to read this book and take a deep dive into the material to takenthat first step of shifting your mindset about your body!

We’ll meet for 6 weeks on Sundays af 5:30pm Mountain time, starting February 13!

Have you ever gone through it? Like, just had tough circumstances in your life?

I did, recently. My heart was hurting. I was anxious. A huge amount of effort went toward distracting myself so that I could deal with the thoughts and emotions in a measured, managed way, without disrupting my necessary day-to-day functioning.

You’ve probably experienced something like this; maybe you’ve gone through much worse. When there is painful stuff happening that is out of our control, sometimes our relationship with food is affected.

The first photo is from two years ago today.

That night, I went to an event and had a glass of red wine 🍷… and then had a migraine for three days 😫

After that, I took a break from alcohol, but then just never went back.

After being I can say that I wasn’t psychologically or physically addicted to alcohol, but it wasn’t *not* a problem.

The second photo is from earlier this year. The fact that it was taken by a bar is pure coincidence 🤣📷Glimpse of the Good Life Photography

Someone asked me recently if there is a way to intuitively use alcohol. My opinion? No, there isn’t. Here’s why: As we consume alcohol, our perceptions of how we feel become a moving target. As tolerance levels change over time, this becomes increasingly warped. That being said, I believe that people are fully capable of making intuition-based decisions about if and when to include alcohol in their lives.

I went backpacking last week! It was AMAZING.

Reflecting on the experience, I keep thinking about how connected I felt with my body. I was especially aware of two things:
1. It’s easy to love a body that’s part of your team and isn’t the opponent - I had to rely on my body to carry myself and a heavy pack through the Black Hills and my body SHOWED. UP. for me.
2. It’s easy to love a body whose appearance you aren’t critiquing - besides photos and one mirror above a sink in a campground bathroom, I didn’t see myself the entire trip.

What helps you get on the same team as your body?

If you struggle with this and want to heal your relationship with your body, contact me at (307) 710-6790, or visit WonderfullyWell.life to learn more!

I recently learned about a resource that I NEED to share with y’all! I know a lot of businesses/groups like this one tend to be focused around women, and sometimes men’s issues - especially with mental health - can get brushed over. Not so helpful when we’re trying to encourage men that it’s good to focus on mental health. And since Wonderfully Well sits partially in mental health space, it feels like great place to share this resource! Check it out if you’re a man or you know any men: https://mantherapy.org

Man Therapy is a place where men can come to be men. So here, we won't be whining, complaining or moping about. No, we'll be getting off our keisters and form tackling feelings like anger, stress, sadness, substance use, and even suicidal thoughts head-on. By using the manly techniques found in Dr.....

When I was a kid, we had old-school metal Tonka trucks we played with in the dirt. Being small, the dump truck was fhe perfect size for me to push around comfortably while running.

This week in book group, we talked about children’s toys and how they impact kids’ concepts of their bodies.

I can confidently say that playing with Tonka trucks in the dirt contributed to allowing me to see my body as a tool for my engagement with my world, rather than an ornament whose appearance was more important than function.

What toys do you remember from your childhood? How did they impact your views of your body?

If you’d like to join upcoming book groups to be involved in these conversations, learn more at https://wonderfullywell.life/2021/07/23/not-your-average-book-group/ or call me at (307) 710-6790!

Plus-size clothing can be a struggle. Few options mean that finding just the right thing can be difficult, costly, and time-consuming. This needs to get better.

I have two options with this photo:
a) zoom in and criticize my body, or
b) zoom out and celebrate my body.

The difference is where the focus is placed, which brings up and important point:

Loving your body doesn’t have to mean loving the APPEARANCE of your body. It means loving your WHOLE body, for all that it does for you.

Deeper, meaningful love for your body allows you to be on the same team, and then, ya know, [insert cliche about teamwork taking everyone farther here].
