🐔 The chains continue at Gilman Healthcare Center and are set to enter the dining room tomorrow! 🎉

Today, we enjoyed soft pretzels as our snack, and it seems more folks prefer salt on their pretzels over sugar and cinnamon! 🥨✨

We also got creative making birdhouses, which we’ll hang up to see if we can attract some new feathered friends outside! 🐦

And how could we forget? Today was National Dance Like a Chicken Day, so we had a squawking good time with a chicken roaming around all day! 🐣💃

🎉 As National Nursing Home Week comes to a close at Gilman Healthcare Center, we’re excited to share our latest activities! 🌈 The chain is rounding the last hallway and will be meeting in the dining room by Friday!

Yesterday, we had a blast passing around cotton candy and getting creative with paint brushes to decorate rocks for our outdoor area and pots for planting on Friday! 🌼✨ Everyone was decked out in their tie-dye or multicolored shirts, adding to the vibrant atmosphere!

We can’t wait to wrap up this amazing week with even more fun and festivities!

🌟 Celebrating Our Incredible Nurses! 🌟

This past Wednesday was a special day at Gilman Healthcare Center as we wrapped up Nurses Week with a well-deserved break for our amazing nursing staff. Our nurses took some time to relax, connect, and enjoy a delicious meal together. 💖

We're so grateful for their dedication, compassion, and hard work every day. Thank you for all that you do to care for our residents! Here’s to our wonderful nursing team! 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

🎉🌈 Tuesday was a colorful day at Gilman Healthcare Center! Many of us proudly wore our GHC shirts or bright colors, showcasing our vibrant spirit. Some even had a little extra “hope” added to their outfits! 💖🍩

Donuts were a hit, bringing smiles and sweetness to everyone’s day! 🍩✨ We also got creative making wind chimes, and the successful ones are now hanging outside to dance gently in the breeze. 🌬️🎶

And here’s a fantastic update on our paper chain project: we’re officially halfway to wrapping it around the building! 🎉 A huge thank you to Jim for his hard work climbing up and down the ladder to help us reach our goal. Together, we’re making great strides! 💪🌼

🌼✨ Happy National Nursing Home Week from all of us at Gilman Healthcare Center!

This year, we're embracing the beautiful theme of "Moments in Bloom," celebrating the compassion, connection, and teamwork that create meaningful experiences every day.

Kicking off the week on a bright note, Monday was a vibrant yellow day filled with deliciousness! 🎉💛 Our taste buds were delighted by the scrumptious pistachio, strawberry, and blueberry/lemon cupcakes, generously provided by RD Cakes in Kankakee. A big THANK YOU for making our day extra sweet! 🧁💖

We’re also excited to share that our paper chain is starting to grow, and our goal is to wrap it around the entire building! Together, we can achieve anything! Let’s keep blooming and creating unforgettable moments. 🌷💪

This week, we proudly celebrate National Skilled Nursing Care Week® and honor the incredible residents, caregivers, nurses, therapists, dietary teams, housekeeping staff, activities directors, administrators, and every team member who helps our communities bloom each and every day. 🌸💚

The 2026 theme, “Moments in Bloom,” reminds us that even the smallest moments - a smile, a conversation, a helping hand, a shared laugh - can make the biggest impact.

Thank you to the compassionate caregivers who dedicate their hearts to caring for others, and to the amazing residents who inspire us daily with their strength, wisdom, and stories.

Yesterday, we celebrated the incredible mothers in our community by showering them with beautiful roses and indulging in delicious pie! It was a heartwarming day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
