Our visit with the elementary students at Gilmer ISD this morning was lots of fun!! Nugget loves the kiddos even though they are wild! We were able to visit a classroom and then greet lots of kiddos in the hallway.

Brushing up on Nuggets obedience skills today. She is finally maturing and it’s time to ask a little more of her.

Nugget & her owner took advantage of the training opportunities the Black Friday crowd offered this morning during our lesson! They did fantastic. ✨

Back in the office today with Nugget the Therapy Dog. I think a little time off I good for everyone…. even dogs with a job. She was READY to get back to work and provide love and comfort to everyone today at Open Door Resource Center.

It’s been a minute since we have worked. I have had a full schedule and a few hurdles to jump but we are back in the swing of things. We took at a brisk walk at a busy park today and used the time to brush up on some basic obedience skills. This girl really is “Golden” in so many ways.

A touch of reality. Dogs don’t always have a good day.

Today we attended the Christus NICU Reunion and were only able to stay for about an hour. This sweet pup was overstimulated and struggled to obey and visit calmly. Thanks to a dear friend we managed to go outside to regroup and settle down. Then we were able go back in for a few successful visits. We left early because it was in Nuggets best interest.

Working dogs of all kinds have good days and bad days just like we do. They need to be loved and gently trained. I will always take my cues from her and give her an out when she needs it.

I shared this today because life is not always perfect and we can’t expect our working pet partners to be perfect either.

Nugget started therapy visits last week and today at Christus Good Shepherd. I am so proud of this sweet pup for bringing lots of love to patients, families, and staff at the hospital.
