Early Anthropology incorrectly utilized the term "shaman" or shamanic rituals , as a catch all terms for many indigenous spiritual and healing practices. While many cultures have healing practices that work with spirits and other-worlds they aren't all shamanic in nature.
With the age of information we can find so many similarities and differences in many healing/spiritual/religious practices, many having been adapted or merged with others over the decades, and in a time of cultural competency, its important to know the roots our traditions.
