New data from the American Cancer Society (ACS) is drawing attention to a disease more younger adults are facing. Colorectal cancer is now the leading cause of cancer death in people under 50, and ACS says death rates in that age group have been rising about 1% a year since 2004.

A Virginia Beach firefighter and EMT is sharing his story of survival, and reminding others how recognizing the signs of a stroke can save lives.

The emotional reunion took place at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, where Gomez was able to thank the dozens of people who played a role in his care.

Health experts say strokes can happen to anyone, even young, healthy people, and recognizing the symptoms quickly is key to improving survival and recovery.
