Finding talented entertainment is truly a task in itself, but our amazing Recreation Director always goes above and beyond to bring the very best to The Regency. From gathering recommendations to watching countless YouTube videos of potential performers, she puts her heart into finding entertainment that our residents will truly enjoy.

Her latest discovery was absolutely unforgettable — the incredibly talented Connolly sisters, Rachel, Johanna, and Shannon Connolly, who have all performed on off-Broadway, came to The Regency for a very special performance. Their beautiful harmonies, charm, and energy filled the room with excitement, smiles, and plenty of singalongs from our residents.

Making the afternoon even more meaningful was having their proud mother in the audience, watching her daughters perform together. It was a beautiful celebration of family, music, and the joy that live entertainment brings to our community. A Mother's Day treat for all!

NURSES CALL THE SHOTS ALERT: “Save one life, you’re a hero. Save a hundred lives, you’re a nurse.” — Unknown

Happy Nurses Week to all of our incredible nurses who bring compassion, strength, and dedication to our community every single day. We are especially grateful for our amazing Wellness Director, Violetta, who is celebrating 5 wonderful years as part of our team. She is truly our ROCK — always leading with heart, professionalism, and endless support for both residents and staff.

Violetta often shares how inspired she is by the residents in our community who dedicated their own lives to nursing, including Carole, Carol, and Pat. Their stories, experience, and commitment to caring for others continue to inspire us all.

Fun fact about Pat — over 25 years ago, she worked for Visiting Nurse Services and actually came to The Regency in the 1990s to care for residents living here at that time. Now, years later, she is part of our Regency family herself, bringing her story full circle in the most meaningful way.

Thank you to all nurses — past and present — for the comfort, care, and kindness you give so selflessly every day. 💙

OLE ALERT: “Cinco de Mayo: where history meets fiesta.” - Anonymous

Cinco de Mayo at The Regency was nothing short of a fiesta to remember! Residents danced the afternoon away, filling the room with music, and plenty of rhythm (some better than others—but who’s judging?).

The highlight of the day was a delicious guacamole-making demonstration by a resident’s daughter, the incredibly talented chef Susanne Long, who proved that the secret ingredient might just be a little extra love—and maybe a squeeze of lime. Meanwhile, Chef Pat and Chef Poncho served up their famous homemade taco salad bowls, piled high and disappearing even faster than they were made!

And just when everyone thought they couldn’t eat another bite… out came the churros—warm, sweet, and absolutely irresistible. Let’s just say diets were happily postponed.

Residents also embraced their creative side with a vibrant Frida Kahlo–inspired craft, channeling bold colors, beautiful florals, and a touch of artistic flair—because every fiesta deserves a little masterpiece!

Between festive crafts, toe-tapping tunes, and more than a few “just one more chip” moments, the celebration was the perfect blend of fun and flavor. Safe to say, no one left hungry—and everyone left smiling. ¡Olé!

MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU ALERT: ✨ "In my experience, there is no such thing as luck.” — Obi-Wan Kenobi

The Regency tapped into the force in the most fun-filled way this May 4th! Princess Annmarie and our Star Wars Team fully embraced the spirit of the day, dressing up and bringing big galactic energy to the community. Residents and staff alike enjoyed some friendly (and spirited!) lightsaber battles that had everyone cheering and laughing.

And of course, no celebration is complete without a sweet treat—delicious cinnamon buns were served, perfectly matching Annmarie’s gorgeous hair (and just to clarify… not a wig 😉).

It was a day filled with laughter, creativity, and a little bit of Jedi magic—proving once again that at The Regency, the force of fun is always strong!

The Regency was off to the races celebrating Kentucky Derby Day in style! From festive spirit to plenty of excitement, our community truly brought the energy of Churchill Downs right to us. Residents enjoyed the fun, flair, and tradition that make Derby Day so special.

And a very special shoutout—check us out as we celebrate alongside an incredible milestone! A big congratulations to our Recreation Assistant Laurie’s cousin, Cherie DeVaux for making history as the first woman trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. What an inspiring and unforgettable moment!

Check out Annmarie's perfect outfit that has a very Pretty Woman vibe!

Cheers to fast horses, fabulous hats, and history in the making!

101 BIRTHDAY WISHES: “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” — Oprah Winfrey

A birthday celebration truly fit for a queen! Babette Cohen, a cherished resident of The Regency for the past 15 years, celebrated an incredible milestone—her 101st birthday—surrounded by friends, family, and a community that adores her.

The celebration came alive with the sounds of music as singer Andrew Anton filled the room with beloved classics, serenading Babette and delighting a standing-room-only crowd.

Babette’s son and grandson were in attendance, making the day even more meaningful as they shared touching and often humorous stories about her life. From her days as a self-proclaimed tomboy to her transformation into a beauty queen, their stories highlighted the char and spirit that have defined Babette throughout her 101 years.

It was more than just a birthday—it was a celebration of a remarkable life. Babette continues to inspire everyone around her, and this unforgettable day was a beautiful tribute to a woman who truly wears her crown with grace.

OOH LA LA ALERT: “Paris est toujours une bonne idée.”
(Paris is always a good idea.)

April brought a touch of Parisian charm to our Safe Harbor community with a delightful “April in Paris” theme. The entire community was buzzing with excitement, and we absolutely loved seeing everyone dressed in their Parisian best—berets, scarves, and all! Residents were transported to the City of Light as we embraced all things French, from elegant décor to music that filled the room with romance and nostalgia. There was laughter and a wonderful sense of togetherness throughout the day. The smell of the homemade chocolate croissants is still lingering!

A special thank you to Madam Annemarie and her Parisian team for bringing this beautiful vision to life—your creativity and flair made the day truly unforgettable! It was a magnifique celebration that left us all saying, “C’est la vie!”

THE BUNNY HOP ALERT: “Bunnies remind us that the smallest moments bring the biggest joy.” - Joan Raite

Spring is here, and so are the bunnies! Residents of Safe Harbor were overjoyed to welcome these adorable furry visitors, bringing a true sense of the season indoors. There was something so special about watching everyone light up as they gently held the baby ducks, chicks & bunnies, stroked their soft fur, and shared in the simple, heartwarming experience.

Laughter filled the room as residents reminisced about past springs and shared stories, all while showering the babies with love and affection. These sweet interactions not only brought smiles but also created a calming and joyful atmosphere for all. It was a beautiful reminder of how meaningful these moments can be—connecting with animals, with each other, and with the happiness that springtime brings. 🐰🌷
