More about us...

Glen Ellyn Youth & Family Counseling Service (GEYFCS.org) is a small community-based, not-for-profit mental health agency that provides professional counseling to local area youth and families, serving the community for over 30 years. We offer individual counseling to youth and adults, family counseling, couples counseling, and school consultation. Our services are available to those living in the attendance areas of Glen Ellyn public schools.

Our goal is to make mental health services more widely accessible for everyone, regardless of economic status. No one is ever denied counseling because of an inability to pay. We are one of the only remaining local counseling agencies that can see individuals within 24-48 hours of their first intake call. There's no wait list for families in crisis. Nearly 80% of families seen at GEYFCS have incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Seventy- eight percent of our professional counseling services from the 2019/20 fiscal year were for children, adolescents, and their families.

Now, more than ever, our community needs to make sure mental health care is available to everyone. It is not surprising that the CDC is reporting an increase in mental health problems associated with the pandemic, especially among younger people. Our own clients are feeling isolated and alone. For some, their families are facing unemployment and worrying about basic necessities such as being able to provide food and housing. Young people and their parents are challenged by virtual learning, and we are seeing increases in family conflict, domestic abuse, and neglect. Our therapists are connecting clients to needed support services but also, when necessary, providing immediate assistance when community resources are not readily available. GEYFCS' Response to Coronavirus Closures: GEYFCS is meeting with clients via telephone or video sessions during established operating hours. We are accepting new clients. For more information, contact Deanna Filkins, GEYFCS Executive Director, at geyfcs@outlook.com or (630) 469-3040. In case of an emergency, call 911 or the Dupage Crisis Hotline (630) 627-1700.
