Boundaries can be so tough to implement, but so needed for us as healers in order to protect our sanity and create healthy rhythms--which, in turn, allows us to actually be there for others!

This fall I made some schedule changes at work and decided that I will no longer see clients on Monday mornings. Instead, I will use them to ease into a week with a slow breakfast and then some admin work. No big deal, right? You'd think it would be fairly easy given that I have the rest of the week to schedule a (rather small) caseload of clients. But, of course, a number of my people MUST see me on Mondays because it's the only time that works well for them... I am standing my ground so far, although it is so very tempting to give in.

It's hard, but worth it!

I am a very creative person. It took me literally decades to discover and own that aspect of my identity because I have never been a "professional artist" in a traditional sense. But I am still an artist. I get to be an artist when I sit in front of another person and join them on the journey of inner self-discovery. I get to be an artist when I create an office space that feels welcoming, calming and safe to others. I get to be an artist when I flow through the rhythms of my days and weeks in a way that is aligned with my body and soul. I get to be an artist when I design websites for other healers. I get to be an artist when I craft structures and "legs" for a healthy business.

There are many elements to our work in mental health field that can feel hard, draining, discouraging. But today I just feel grateful that despite all that, I get to create.
