I know acupuncture has a reputation for being a little... out there. And I get it. If someone can't tell you what's actually happening when that needle goes in, it's reasonable to be skeptical.

So let me tell you exactly what's happening.

When a needle is placed into a muscle or motor point, it triggers a very specific response in your nervous system. It dials down the overactivity that's been feeding your pain. It restores communication to muscles that have essentially gone quiet and stopped doing their job. And it signals your body to shift out of the state it's been stuck in and begin actually repairing.

This is why I don't place needles randomly. Every single one has a reason. A target. A job to do. And I will always tell you where I'm needling and why before I do it — because an informed patient is a patient who understands their own body, and that matters to me.

You don't have to take it on faith. You just have to give your nervous system the chance to respond.

Spoiler: it will.

Needles. I know. It’s the thing that almost stopped you from looking me up in the first place.

Here’s what I want you to know: acupuncture needles are nothing like what your brain is picturing right now. They’re hair-thin — we’re talking the width of a human hair, not a syringe. There’s no hollow center, no fluid being injected. The sensation is in a completely different category than a blood draw or a shot.

When a needle reaches its target, you may feel a brief dull ache, a mild warmth, or a sense of heaviness in the area. That feeling — what we call the “de qi” response — is your nervous system acknowledging the signal. It means the needle is exactly where it needs to be. It’s a good sign.

And then something interesting happens. Most people relax. Deeply. In a way they didn’t expect walking in.

I’ve treated plenty of people who told me in the first five minutes that they were terrified of needles. By the end of the session they were half asleep on the table.
Your nerves are valid. And they’re also probably not going to survive contact with the actual experience.

Most people come in and tell me where it hurts. And I listen, but then I watch you move. Because the place that hurts is rarely the whole story.

When I do your physical assessment, I'm looking at how your body is actually functioning underneath the pain. Which muscles have essentially gone offline. Where you're compensating without realizing it. What's been quietly overloaded for months while everything else tried to pick up the slack.

This is why two people can walk in with the same diagnosis — say, chronic knee pain — and leave with completely different treatment plans. Because the pattern driving your pain is specific to you. Your history, your movement habits, your sport, your body.

Most patients tell me this assessment alone is more thorough than anything they've experienced elsewhere. That's not an accident. It's where everything starts.
Because if I don't understand how your body got here, I can't build a plan to get you out.

👇
If you've been chasing the same pain for months and feel like you're only getting surface-level answers — that's exactly what a first visit is for.

I also offer a free 15-minute consultation if you want to talk through whether acupuncture is the right fit before committing to anything. No pressure. Just an honest conversation.

Your comfort matters! Every minute you’re on the table. ✨

That’s why every patient at my clinic is given a call button during their acupuncture session. If anything feels off (whether it’s a needle adjustment, a shift in position, or you just need me) you can reach me instantly.

For many, this brings a huge sense of relief. I’ve heard too many stories of patients feeling stuck or even panicking during treatments elsewhere because they couldn’t easily get help.

Here, you’re never alone.

The best part? The call button is rarely used, but knowing it’s there changes everything. It creates a sense of safety, ease, and true relaxation.

When you feel safe, your body can actually heal. 💛

Not sure if acupuncture will actually help your pain?

That’s exactly why I offer a free 15-minute consultation.
Because before starting treatment, you should understand:

✔️ What’s causing the problem
✔️ How we’re going to fix it
✔️ What the process actually looks like

Healing isn’t instant—and it’s not perfectly linear.
But when we follow the right plan, your body does change.
Less pain. Better movement. More consistency.

We Start With a Real Conversation

Before a single needle goes in, we talk.

I want to know your injury history, what you've already tried, what your activity level looks like, and what's getting in your way right now.
This isn't small talk, it's diagnostic. The details you share shape everything about how I treat you.

As we continue to work together week after week, more of your story will emerge. You would be shocked to know how many people completely forget about previous injuries (even surgeries!).Either they forget, or just don't understand the relevance. All of this history is importany. This is the beauty of individualized one-on-one treatment...time!

If you’ve ever thought about trying acupuncture but didn’t know what would actually happen… you’re not alone.

Most people are surprised to learn that orthopedic acupuncture is much more than just “relaxation.”

If your pain isn’t improving, it’s often because the root cause hasn’t been addressed.

That’s exactly what we focus on in your first visit.

We look at how your body moves, where things are breaking down, and how to correct it—often using tools like e-stim to help speed up results.

Not just symptoms.

Not temporary relief.

But understanding why your body is hurting in the first place.
Your first visit is all about clarity, not confusion.

A plan. A direction. Real progress.

“Dealing with pain that just won’t go away? These are the 5 problems I treat most often in my clinic.

Neck & back pain
Jaw pain & headaches
Knee & Hip pain
Shoulder & Elbow Pain
Foot pain, plantar fasciitis & neuropathy

Most of my patients come in after trying rest, stretching, medications, or physical therapy and are still dealing with persistent pain.

Orthopedic acupuncture targets the muscles and nerves involved in the problem to help reduce pain and improve movement.

If something on this list sounds familiar, acupuncture may be worth exploring.

This is one of the most common neck and shoulder pain patterns I treat.

It’s often not just tight muscles — it’s weak shoulder stabilizers causing the neck to overwork.

Orthopedic acupuncture and dry needling allows me to both release tension and address the root of the imbalance.

This responds very well to treatment.

“Do I have to believe in acupuncture for it to work?”

Nope. Not even a little.

Orthopedic acupuncture isn’t about belief — it’s about physiology.

When I treat painful muscles, tight fascia, irritated nerves, or stubborn sports injuries, patients often feel the needle release tension in real time. You can literally feel the muscle soften, twitch, or let go.

That’s not placebo.
That’s neuromuscular response.

There are also animal studies showing acupuncture works on dogs, horses, and other animals — and they definitely aren’t “believing” in it. Their nervous systems are responding to stimulation.

Acupuncture works because it:
• Improves blood flow
• Modulates inflammation
• Resets dysfunctional muscle patterns
• Calms irritated nerves

Belief optional. Results welcome.

If you’re dealing with low back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, or neuropathy, orthopedic acupuncture may be exactly what your body needs.
