🦋October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day🦋

& October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.

Unfortunately, 1 in 4 will experience a pregnancy or infant loss. For those on the outside of this experience it can be really difficult to know what to say or what not to say to those who have experienced a loss.

Here are some ideas of language that may be hurtful or helpful to those going through such a difficult time.

If you have experienced a loss and there were things that people did or said that were either helpful or hurtful that you would like to share, please feel free to do so!

As always, we are here to listen, learn, and support you ❤️

This month, we honor the children who have gone too soon and the parents that grieve their loss. Experiencing pregnancy or infant loss can be a unique grieving process that has no timeline.
By bringing awareness to these experiences, it is the hope that families will feel seen, heard, and be more likely to reach out for the support they need.

If you have experienced loss, you are not alone and don't need to navigate this journey alone. 💗💙

WILL START THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9th
and will run through NOVEMBER 20th, 2025!

Classes will be VIRTUAL, on ZOOM this session from 6:30pm-8:00pm every Thursday.

Postpartum Support Group will be starting on THURSDAY, 9/4/25!

💻We will be VIRTUAL this session.

Here are the details:
Group will be held on ZOOM each week.
TIME: 6:30pm-8:00pm every Thursday 9/4/25-9/25/25

🤱🏾Who can attend??

⭐This group is specifically for New Parents. That means that if you have a 0-12month old, you are welcome to attend!
⭐This group is ONLY for parents of the infant. Sorry- no friends or family members.

💁🏿We have break-out sessions for DADS too!
💁🏼Dad's group is led by a male facilitator.
💸When Dads attend, they will earn gift cards.

🤱👷‍♀️👩🏾‍💼September 1-7 is Workplace Lactation Week!👩‍⚕️👩‍🍳🍼

Workplace Lactation Week was created in 2023 and is celebrated annually from September 1-7. The observance celebrates the contributions of nursing mothers and parents in the workplace and aligns with Labor Day, highlighting the vital role working and pumping parents play in the workforce.

2025 Theme: A World of Support: Creating Breastfeeding-Friendly Workplaces Everywhere

Stay tuned for some more information about the Illinois laws and policies that exist to protect pumping and lactating parents in the workplace!

🤱🏾This week we will be celebrating !
It starts, 8/25 and ends 8/31.

2025 Theme: "Boots on the Ground: Rooted in Breastfeeding Success, Grounded in Community Support". This theme emphasizes the importance of grassroots efforts and community support in promoting breastfeeding among Black families.

🤱🏿Black breastfeeding has a complex history and unfortunately, there are many barriers to black women getting the support they need.

💪🏿Uplifting Black Mothers on their breastfeeding journey and advocating for support and services for Black breastfeeding is an essential component of .

Supporting black breastfeeding also means better health outcomes and reduced infant mortality rates! I think we can MORE than support that!

🌈Happy National Rainbow Baby Day!🌈

What is a Rainbow Baby?

A is a baby born following miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss. Since a rainbow is known to appear after a storm has passed, the rainbow has become a symbol of weathering the “storm of loss” as well as a symbol of hope for what’s to come in the future.

Today we honor these families and hope to offer a chance for them to share their experiences, grieve, reflect, hope, heal and celebrate.

We'd like to introduce to you, Gabrielle and Amaris, our new Therapy Program Externs!🎉

Teen Parent Connection offers free therapy services to all young parents currently enrolled in programs. Supervised by Dr. Nicole Francen, our Therapy Program team assists families facing increased stressors that may result in depression, anxiety, interpersonal violence, and risk for child abuse and neglect.

In addition to individual and couples therapy, we also offer group-based therapy, held in-person on a weekly basis, where participants explore various discussion topics such as trauma, healthy relationships, and effective co-parenting.
