Family Service of Glencoe's mission is to provide a stronger community and meet individual and family needs through services which identify, prevent and resolve social and emotional problems. These services include

- Clinical therapy for families, couples and individuals
- Support of youth and adolescent programming in the Glencoe schools
- 24- hour crisis intervention services
- Family events in

cluding Family Fun Fest
- Employee assistance program for local employees
- Scholarship screening for local day care, school, park district and sports programs
- Support for Glencoe seniors including housing assistance
Referrals to other organizations

Through these services and more, we strive to encourage emotional well-being for the good of the individual, the family and, ultimately the community.

We hope everyone is enjoying summer and staying safe in the heat! 🥵

Along with the potentially serious physical health effects of the extreme heat that's gripping our area, the intense heat can also have significant impact on mental health.

We encourage your to be vigilant with your health and the well-being of those around you, hydrate well, seek air conditioning when possible, practice good self-care with stress management techniques, and contact a healthcare professional if necessary.

This week it was announced that the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is in operation but has discontinued its specialized support for LGBTQ+ youth, removing the option to connect with counselors specifically trained to meet their unique needs.

At Family Service of Glencoe, we have clinicians who are experienced in working with the LGBTQ+ community—and we’re here to help. To schedule an appointment, call 847-835-5111 and press option 1, or reach out here: https://www.familyserviceofglencoe.org/contact and we will get back to you as soon as possible during business hours. If you are having an emergency, please call 911.

If you are in Glencoe and experience a mental health crisis, calling 911 connects you with Glencoe Public Safety. If necessary, officers may reach FSG clinicians to respond alongside them, offering support and follow-up care.

Dementia Caregiver Support Group
Monthly Meetings - 2nd Thursday of the Month 10:30 am - noon

Glencoe Park District - Takiff Center

A collaboration between Family Service of Glencoe and Guardian Home Health Care, this Dementia Caregiver Support Group offers a supportive and confidential space where caregivers can connect, share experiences, and find emotional support with others who are facing similar challenges.

What to Expect:

Facilitators: Emily Mysel, LCSW, Family Service of Glencoe and Judy Altman, LCSW, Guardian Home Health Care

▪ A welcoming, understanding environment for caregivers to share their journey
▪ Resources and guidance for navigating the complexities of caregiving
▪ A chance to meet others who truly understand your experience

This group is free and open to anyone providing care for a loved one with dementia.
