Why I Became a Pain Doctor
By Sean Ormond MD, Atlas Pain Specialists
Every day, I see how pain steals more than comfort — it robs people of their ability to work, sleep, move freely, and enjoy the simplest moments with their families. I became a pain management physician to give that life back.
Early in my training as an anesthesiologist, I was drawn to procedures that provided immediate relief — spinal blocks, nerve interventions, and advanced imaging techniques. But I quickly realized that true healing wasn’t just about numbing pain. It was about restoring function, improving quality of life, and understanding the root causes behind each patient’s suffering.
This led me to pursue dual board certification in Anesthesiology and Interventional Pain Management, where I could focus on precise, minimally invasive solutions that empower patients without relying solely on medications or surgery.
At Atlas Pain Specialists, my team and I believe in treating people, not just symptoms. Whether it’s helping someone walk again without sciatica or guiding a veteran through treatment-resistant nerve pain, we’re here to listen, personalize care, and be a partner in the healing journey.
Pain may be common, but it’s never normal. If you’re struggling with it, you don’t have to do it alone. I became a pain doctor to help you live with strength, clarity, and freedom again.
Warm regards,
