Low back pain is no joke and very common in the United States. Nearly 3 out of 10 adults – 72.3 million people – currently suffer from chronic low back pain, surpassing the number of Americans who have arthritis, diabetes or heart disease.

Here are 5 ways to decrease low back pain naturally:
1. Stretch
2. Work on your posture and core strength
3. Hydrate hydrate hydrate!
4. Avoid prolonged sitting or standing
5. Get your steps in daily

Kids develop foundational communication skills through structured and meaningful play routines. These help them engage in functional play with different toys, use gestures, and improve attention span.

As they play, children start to show early skills that help them better express their wants and needs. 💬

Language grows even more with intentional modeling — like using:
🗣 Verbal routines
📍 Spatial concepts
🎭 Narrated play
🔊 Early and environmental sounds

By weaving these into play, we create rich, natural opportunities for language development.

Andres came to AzOPT Goodyear in early May after a left tib-fib fracture, just cleared to begin weight bearing outside of his boot. At that time, he couldn’t walk on his injured leg and was eager to get back to school, play with his siblings, and enjoy running around with his friends again.

Fast forward to today—Andres is running, jumping, playing, and living pain-free! While we’re still working on strength and mobility, his progress has been incredible.
What truly makes Andres stand out is his energy and attitude. He walks into every session with a smile, ready to joke, laugh (even at himself), and lift the spirits of everyone around him. He even gets other patients chatting with his favorite “Would You Rather” questions!

After over two months of consistent therapy,, Andres continues to show resilience, positivity, and the kind of determination that inspires us all. All of this is why Andres is our July Patient of the Month! Congratulations! 👏

Struggling with tummy time? 😩

If your little one isn’t a fan, you’re not alone — but here are a few ways to make tummy time a little more tolerable (and even fun)!

👉 Try some position modifications:
Switch up the surface! A Boppy, towel roll, small pillow, exercise ball, or even your leg can help prop baby up and make it easier.
- You can also try tummy time on your chest — perfect for extra snuggles!
- Support at the shoulders can also help baby hold a better forearm prop position, improving stability and muscle engagement.

🎉 Make it interesting:
Bring on the toys! Try toys that light up, spin, or make noise to keep baby engaged.
- Mirrors are a win-win — suction toys stick to them, and babies love watching their own reflection!
- For younger babies, black-and-white high-contrast cards are a great visual option 👶🖤

Meet Sophia - Our Star of the Month from Kids Place Prescott! 💫 Her therapy sessions are always full of smiles, laughter, and non-stop energy. Whether she’s solving puzzles, whipping up something in the play kitchen, scaling the jungle gym, or taking big leaps onto the crash pad — she brings joy wherever she goes!

Lately, she’s even started playing little jokes on her therapist! 😂

When Sophia first joined us at Kids Place Prescott over two years ago, she was minimally verbal. Today, she’s naming objects, making requests, using familiar phrases, and even creating her own sentences. We are so proud of her amazing progress!

Reflecting on their journey at Kids Place, Sophia’s mom offers this heartfelt advice: 'Take your time with your children. And children, take your time learning. We all learn at different paces, and we all will succeed.'”
