What an amazing experience at the SWS Conference! Representing Horizon Recovery and engaging with passionate change-makers was such a great reminder of why we do what we do, together on the front lines.

This 4th of July, our Deer Valley location was bursting with joy, laughter, and unforgettable moments as teens and our dedicated Team celebrated together. Beyond the fireworks and festivities, we cherished the real connections that were formed, deepened, and nurtured.
Every smile, every game, every conversation was a reminder of why we do what we do at Horizon Recovery. Today, we’re especially grateful for our incredible team, whose compassion and commitment create a place of healing, belonging, and growth for our teens.

When a teen is in crisis, families often feel like they are falling apart too. At Horizon Recovery, we treat more than the client. We support the entire family.

Healing happens faster and lasts longer when parents are involved. That is why we guide families through communication coaching, psychoeducation, and collaborative care planning.

We help parents understand what is happening in their teen’s brain, how to respond with connection instead of control, and how to build new patterns at home.

You are not just part of the process. You are essential to it.

ADHD in teens is not always obvious. It may look like daydreaming, forgetting homework, fidgeting, or interrupting conversations. It can also show up as frustration, shame, or low self-esteem.

ADHD is not a lack of intelligence or effort. It is a difference in how the brain processes focus, timing, and regulation. Many teens with ADHD know what to do but struggle to do it consistently, especially under stress.

When parents understand this, they shift from frustration to empathy. From punishment to partnership.

Healing does not happen in one direction. At Horizon Recovery, we meet teens where they are: mentally, emotionally, and creatively.

That is why we offer more than talk therapy. Our programs include expressive outlets like art therapy, mindfulness practices, movement-based interventions, and guided peer connection.

When teens explore their thoughts and emotions in different ways, they build stronger internal awareness and self-regulation.

Talking to your teen about mental health can feel uncomfortable, but it may be one of the most important conversations you ever have.

You do not need to say everything perfectly. What matters most is creating a safe space where your teen feels seen and heard.

Start simple. Try:
"I’ve noticed you haven’t seemed like yourself lately."
Or, "I care about how you’re feeling, and I’m here if you want to talk."

Teens do not always open up right away. What they need is consistency and a calm, nonjudgmental presence. That steady support helps them open the door on their own terms.
