Vitalant is hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, September 3 in the Phoenix area, and we’re looking for volunteers fluent in Mandarin to assist for a 6-hour shift.

Join Vitalant and Paradise Valley Community College for Relay 4 Sickle Cell on Friday, Sept. 20, 8 AM–Noon at Shoenhair Track & Field in Phoenix.

This inherited blood disorder causes severe pain, organ damage, and even stroke. While there’s no cure for most, blood transfusions offer relief and hope.

The road to saving lives runs through people like Ron.

After retiring, Ron heard about a volunteer driver opportunity through a friend.

He asked, “Could you use another driver?”

Since then, he’s been helping deliver blood to patients in need, no matter the weather. Rain or snow, day after day, Ron shows up.

“I enjoy the time that I spend working here,” Ron says. “I feel like I’m giving something back to the community.”

Ron, thank you for your time, your heart, and your wheels.

For Carley and Valerie, donating blood is more than just a routine.

"We donate every two months as a small way to help others, and it’s become a meaningful tradition for us to share together."
