tldr: Our Best Selves is now Our Whole Selves π±π
At the end of summer, the team got together to brainstorm a new name and logo. (I was told my mosquito pants are a look π) I loved the words and images that organically came forth as we thought about our group practice.
We've grown from an individual practice that started in 2018 to a team of 5. I have learned so much the past three years through my relationships with our therapists traci, Ray, and Ginny, and our administrator Kimler. I love the different energies that each of us brings. We are building the trust and care required to endure hardships and grow together, all while enjoying being our whole selves at work and doing work we love.
I originally chose "Our Best Selves" because I do believe there is power in defining our best self and in being in community in that process of self-definition. We can learn to release the fear of naming what the best version of our self is, and to embrace the lifelong process of straying from it and returning to it over and over again.
Nevertheless, we as a practice intend to hold space for all the selves within a person, relationship, or community. We help people bear witness to and reconcile with all the parts that make up who they are -- all with a culturally-grounded, liberatory lens.
Look out for groups Our Whole Selves will be launching in 2023! Ginny and Ray are taking new clients and have a few sliding scale slots. We also do trainings and workshops on healing in minoritized communities.
