✨ Teach your children to be lifelong learners through MODELING: ⁣

Watching a parent set a scary, ambitious goal and talk about the process of achieving it is the most direct way to teach children that learning and striving to be a better human goes beyond the school years. ⁣

This is a picture of me and my mom. My mom and dad modeled athletic drive, physical commitment, and the IMPORTANCE of a PLAN throughout my childhood. ⁣

Their process-driven approach through modeling made much more of an impact than if they had spent their time lecturing about commitment without providing workable examples.⁣

Here’s to all of the mentors in our lives. And let us all do our best to manifest the process for those we hope to fill our shoes 💕⁣

Why Do Traumatic Experiences Have Such A Profound Emotional Impact?

Our experiences can cause brain circuits to change and send us into a fight or flight response before we even have a chance to think things through or ask ourselves if we are in real danger.

If you have experienced an extremely stressful or disturbing event that has left you feeling helpless and emotionally out of control, you are likely carrying the burden of your traumatic experience. Unfortunately, these issues are not likely to improve through avoidance or self-isolation. But there is hope. Don’t be afraid to ask for help in getting your life back.

Psychological issues like anxiety, depression, anger, and even procrastination may be related to earlier traumatic experiences. EMDR may provide relief.

Teens often have trouble assessing the credibility of online information, leading to inaccurate perceptions of current events, their worldview, and even themselves. One tool that parents and schools can use to deal with this problem is called media literacy education. The idea is to teach kids how to evaluate and think critically about the messages they receive and to recognize falsehoods masquerading as truth. (common sense media)

Clickbait, biased opinions, and false information are common online. Teach your child strategies to identify fact from fiction. Advice from Common Sense Media editors.

My son recently got a bedroom makeover that required a total overhaul of his cluttered closet.

He’d been stuffing all sorts of things in there that he didn’t know what to do with or had been avoiding throwing away for years and it was at MAX capacity.

Just as tangible objects take up physical space, our emotions have the ability to take up our mental space. If you tend to be an “emotional hoarder” then this article is for you!

Are you an Emotional Hoarder? Sometimes we fear letting go of the past, holding onto relationships or old habits that hold us back.

👀A teenage client once said to me, "OVERBEARING parents make SNEAKY Teens."

If this is true, what is the alternative?

TRUTH: Kids are much more likely to make positive choices when they are out of your sight because they value their connection and relationship with you RATHER THAN because they fear you or don't want to get into trouble.
