Katie is so excited to continue to serve the State of Wisconsin along with this exceptional group of leaders.

Perinatal Mental Health is important and PSI WI continues to expand it's services and support for birthing people and partners.

Please meet the 2022 PSI-WI Executive Board!

For the last 4 years, since the creation of the WI chapter of PSI, we have been led by Ashlee Rahmlow. Ashlee brought the state chapter to WI, and has championed all of the growth we have had in the last four years. Ashlee is already incredibly missed, and we are eternally grateful for all of the work she has done and continues to do for moms and families in Wisconsin. We also said goodbye to Rose Eichenhofer and Casey Hansen, both of whom have also been board members for the last 4 years. We thank them for their wisdom and service.

Emily Aleksy is the new chair of our state chapter. She has been a board member for the last 4 years and is excited and humbled to take on this new role. Emily is a therapist in private practice and focuses on perinatal mental health.

Shonita Roach continues to be co-chair for our chapter. Shonita is heavily involved in advocacy work, as well as the founder of Shades of You, Shades of Me, a multicultural maternal mental health conference. Read more about her and her work here: https://www.soysom.com/founder

Katie O'Connor and Samantha Leibfried continue to serve as our secretary and treasurer, respectively. Lauren Gourley, Paul Florsheim, Kate Meine, and Tasha Farrar continue to be active board members.

We have also welcomed Leah Blum and Kat Schuknecht as board members this year. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and we are excited to have them!

*DONATIONS TO MMHI MATCHED THROUGH GIVING TUESDAY*

We are excited to announce that one of our supporters has pledged to double all donations made to MMHI starting today through Giving Tuesday, up to $2,000! All funds raised will be used to upgrade the technological and human resources we need to quickly connect moms who are suffering from perinatal mental health disorders to qualified and compassionate healthcare professionals.

As the need for mental health treatment for pregnant and postpartum moms continues to increase, the behavioral health field has been unable to keep up with demand efficiently. Trying to navigate the mental health system and find a provider qualified to treat perinatal mental health disorders is overwhelming for a suffering mom. Furthermore, many moms have to wait 6 to 12 weeks to receive treatment. Unfortunately, some moms can’t hang on that long. Your support is vital to ensure that moms urgently receive the help they need and deserve. MMHI is uniquely positioned to connect moms to treatment, often in less than 2 weeks, from vetted healthcare professionals that are committed to perinatal mental health.

Your donation of any size will have double the impact on helping moms in the Southeast Wisconsin area receive quick and effective treatment.

To have your tax-deductible gift matched, please give online at https://momsmentalhealthmke.org/donate/.

Thank you so much! Please share!

This year leaders at Postpartum Support International are calling on all of us to invest in maternal mental health. You can do that in a number of ways, including investing in yourself by taking measures to protect and enhance your own mental health or support a friend or family member in doing so. RePosted • International Bereaved Mother’s Day is the Sunday every year before Mother’s Day. It’s focus and intent is to gently celebrate all mothers who grieve the death of their babies and children, and was created in response to the exhaustion loss moms have felt around the traditional Mother’s Day. Founder and loss mom Carly Marie Dudley’s goal was to provide a day of honor that was temporary in hopes that one day loss will be recognized and included, with no need for a separate day. For loss mothers, grief around losing a pregnancy or a baby is much more than one day a year - and the next weeks of amplifying mothers may be difficult. Recalibrate on caretaking yourself and honoring your journey in any way that feels right, which may include a break from social media, triggering experiences, or people.

Check out this amazing new book! I love the cartoons and solid advice Kleiman gives. She helps with some really common and really frustrating parts of being a couple while becoming parents.

We have the cover! 🌟💛🌟
Molly and I are so excited to see our new book coming together.

What About US: A New Parents Guide to Safeguarding Your Over-Anxious, Over-Extended, Sleep-Deprived Relationship is due out this fall. Familius Workman Publishing

It will follow the format of GOOD MOMS Have Scary Thoughts with perfect illustrations by Molly, accompanied by expert text and journaling prompts to help you help yourself and your partner during this exciting and challenging time with a new baby.

Here are a couple early endorsements.

👉Thank you 🙏Alanis Morissette and for your enduring support of perinatal women and their families. 💛

"Karen Kleiman’s wisdom about not only taking care of the mother and her well-being, but also her partner and their whole system at large, helps us all stay connected to our partners and loved ones during a tumultuous, life-changing, and potentially relationship-taxing time. . . . God bless Karen for her support in helping us all integrate every relationship within our 'new normal' as parents. Her humor, experience, wisdom, and insight are like a port in the most heart-spinning of storms."
-Alanis Morissette

"Parents often experience tension in their relationships after baby, but often have limited time to read about, reflect, and work through challenges. What About Us? is the answer parents have been waiting for. Through powerful, relatable visuals and Karen Kleiman's decades of experience working with families, partners now have an opportunity to see they're not alone and have a roadmap to move forward together."

Some reassuring and helpful thoughts here on how to weather family challenges:

“I think we have to expect that conflicts are going to happen,” I said. “It’s how we work through them that will matter. The love is in the repair.”

Here's how to navigate the inevitable tension and disconnection in family relationships.
