Glens Falls Pediatrics

Glens Falls Pediatrics Quality medical care for children and adolescents for over 40 years. Open 7 days a week with extended hours so we are available when you need us.

History of Glens Falls Pediatrics

More than 40 years ago Glens Falls Hospital was recruiting Pediatricians with the encouragement of local medical staff members and community need. Dr. Guy Lehine and his wife, Bente came to Glens Falls and began their practice. The first private site was in a small apartment located next to a corn field and community college. In the beginning the growth of the practice was quite slow. There were days it was so quiet you could hear the corn grow and the birds sing. Today Glens Falls Pediatric Consultants practices medicine on Warren Street in Glens Falls and Carpenter Lane in Wilton, NY. The solo practice has evolved over the years to several providers operating seven days a week, 365 days a year. We treat patients from birth to twenty-one years of age. The practitioners have special interests in neonatology, asthma/allergy, developmental disabilities and behavioral health. We are truly your medical home.

I talked about the wildfire smoke yesterday but the extent of it at low levels was under modeled. The haze is pretty thick in the Hudson valley and especially across western New England. Air quality has taken a significant hit for now. Anyone with respiratory issues should limit exposure to outside air until this clear. Air quality alert in effect through midnight.

🚨 **Measles Alert in the Capital Region** 🚨
The New York State Department of Health has confirmed **potential measles exposures** at Albany Medical Center and Saratoga Hospital emergency departments this past week. While the risk is currently low, measles is **highly contagious** and can lead to serious complications—especially for infants, immunocompromised individuals, and those who are unvaccinated.

šŸ›”ļø **How to Protect Yourself and Others:**
- āœ… Make sure you and your family are **up-to-date on the MMR vaccine** (measles, mumps, rubella). Two doses offer 97% protection.
- šŸ§’ Children traveling internationally should receive early vaccination if eligible.
- 😷 If you were at either hospital on July 14 or 16, contact the facility for guidance.
- šŸ„ Saratoga Hospital now requires **masks in the ER** as a precaution.

šŸ“ž If you're unsure of your vaccination status, please send us a portal message and we can send you a copy of your vaccine record. Let’s keep our community safe and informed.

Measles spreads faster than any other infectious disease we know. That’s why it's often the first to reappear when vaccination rates drop. And it’s not just contagious—it’s dangerous. Measles can cause serious complications, including pneumonia, brain swelling, and even death. And when overall vaccine coverage falls, it opens the door for other diseases to come back, too, like pertussis (whooping cough), which has also been surging in recent years. The only way to prevent and protect yourself and others is to get vaccinated.

When you vaccinate your child, you help stop disease in its tracks. But when too many people can’t access vaccines, it opens the door for dangerous illnesses to come back, especially measles. Babies, pregnant women, and children with weak immune systems depend on the rest of us to keep that door closed. That’s the power of community immunity.
