🐣I've got some BIG news! I am expecting a sweet new babe myself this spring, and therefore will be having to discontinue in-person birth and postpartum doula care for awhile by April 1.

In the meantime, I've got a few more openings for the month of March, so if you are in Kentuckiana and need a birth or postpartum doula, I am here to serve you. As always, I practice on a sliding scale.

After April 1, I am happy to announce that I will continue to offer virtual doula services to all. You can try on-demand virtual care for a day or a month to see if this is a good fit for you!

Babies...capable of manipulation?!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I don’t think so.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And a society that perpetuates a belief system like that needs a serious reality check.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why have babies if not to dote on them?

Why have babies if not to hug them and hold them and make them believe without a shadow of a doubt that they are truly loved, unconditionally, day and night, whether they’re chill or high needs?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The way you respond to your baby literally wires her brain. It sets the stage for the love she believes she deserves for the rest of her life. It builds neural connections that determine how she will experience the world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Taking care of a baby’s physical and emotional needs allows her to focus on learning and growing and experiencing life from a place of calm and presence.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hold those babies mama. Pick them up. Carry them. Dote on them. Delight in them. Light up when you see them. Love them. Show them the joy their presence bring you. You simply cannot spoil a baby with love.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please tag a mama who needs this today. 📷: ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas!! 👏🏻

No matter how your baby arrived in this world, you are rocking motherhood. 🤘🏻

Enjoy your day and take some time for YOU to celebrate how much you mean to that little person in your life. ❤️❤️

This is what 10 cm dilated looks like. Get your mother something nice this weekend.

One of the best reminders as an expectant mother
…is that nothing more should be expected of you!
Mamas, whether the baby is still in your womb,
Running around or lying in your arms
Know you are doing it all.
During the slower pace days
Where you feel like your body is crushed by the waves
Your mind and your brain walking through a foggy field
And you have no time or focus or energy to do anything else but breathe
Remember you are being the most productive you have ever been
And ever will be.

Sharing this! ❤️ While we talk often about the beauty and joy that new babies bring, we don’t so often talk about supporting new moms. Feelings of overwhelm, just like feelings of joy, are so common. Normalize this. Normalize getting help you need — from family, friends, therapist, and maybe a doula you connect with. We weren’t meant to face the newborn period largely alone.

Hold the mother, not the baby.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Because the baby’s being taken care of—⁣⁣
fed, snuggled, and given all the love in the world—⁣⁣
by not only the mother,⁣⁣
but her partner, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and friends.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
But the mother,⁣⁣
may have gaps in her mind from lack of sleep,⁣⁣
may be mechanical in her motions as she’s healing,⁣⁣
may feel more like a mess than a mother,⁣⁣
may be sitting in bed, crying, feeling overwhelmed in her body and life,⁣⁣
may be full of mom guilt because in her mind, "she's not good enough,"⁣⁣
and she’s bleeding, wincing in pain, swollen and emotional.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And the mother’s that baby's whole world and needs to be seen, so she doesn't disappear into that postpartum fog.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, hold the mother, not the baby.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A mother agrees that her baby matters more.⁣⁣
But she’s hurting, while she’s the person behind the baby,⁣⁣
in the background, making it all happen:⁣⁣
feeding her baby at all hours,⁣⁣
snuggling her baby close to comfort newborn cries,⁣⁣
and being that baby’s everything.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So, it’s the mother who needs your love.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And a mother will remember who held her up.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So instead of “I’m coming to see the baby,”⁣⁣
try saying, “I’m coming to see you 𝘢𝘯𝘥 meet the baby, too.”⁣⁣

Because the mother needs to be held more.⁣⁣
