Do you have metastatic melanoma?

Help us better understand metastatic melanoma. A research study is inviting adult patients from the US who have been diagnosed with metastatic melanoma to take part in a 30-minute online survey about treatment experiences and how people make choices about treatment.

If you are interested, Pinpoint Patient Recruiting would like to hear from you! If you are eligible, you will receive $50 after you have completed the survey. All information and responses will remain confidential.

If you are interested, please contact Jenny Fowle for more information and to see if you qualify.

EPA should conduct an ecological risk assessment of ultraviolet filters used in sunscreens, given the evidence that aquatic ecosystems in the U.S. and possibly endangered species are exposed to these UV filters, and given the importance of these ingredients in skin cancer prevention.

Be safe this summer!!!!

The danger of sunburns goes far beyond short-term pain, redness and discomfort. After the sunburn fades, lasting DNA damage remains.

Research shows that the UV rays that damage skin can also alter a tumor-suppressing gene, giving injured cells less chance to repair before progressing to cancer

is the most invasive skin cancer with the highest risk of death. While it’s the most serious form of skin cancer, it's highly treatable if caught early. Prevention and early treatment are critical.

👉Melanoma forms when pigment-producing cells—known as melanocytes—mutate and become cancerous. These cells produce melanin, the dark pigment that gives skin its color. Most melanomas are black or brown in color, but some are pink, red, purple or skin-colored.

👉About 30% of melanomas begin in existing moles, but the rest develop in normal skin. This makes it especially important to pay attention to changes in your skin.

👉Because of the fast growth rate of melanoma, a treatment delay sometimes may mean the difference between life and death.

👉Early detection is important to minimize the risks associated with melanoma. Be sure to tell your doctor about any new or changing moles, sores or skin discolorations. In addition, ask your doctor to routinely perform a total skin examination to look for signs of melanoma.

👉Sharing is Caring! Everything you need to know about melanoma prevention, early detection, how it's diagnosed, and the different types of melanoma, can be found oun our website: https://www.aimatmelanoma.org/melanoma-101/
