🚨 Air Quality Alert: Very Unhealthy (Purple AQI) & Unhealthy (Red AQI). Here's what to know locally, from Horizon Public Health's Post:
🟣 Purple Air Quality: Very Unhealthy
What you’ll see and smell:
The sky will look smoky and hazy. You may not be able to see far, and the air will smell strongly of smoke.
Health effects:
This air is very unhealthy for everyone. It can cause serious heart and lung problems like asthma attacks, heart attacks, or strokes.
What to do:
Avoid being active outside. Reschedule or move outdoor events indoors. People with health conditions should stay inside completely.
🔴 Red Air Quality: Unhealthy
What you’ll see and smell:
The sky may look smoky and hazy. You might not be able to see far, and there could be a light smell of smoke.
Health effects:
This air is unhealthy for everyone. You might have symptoms like coughing, irritated eyes or throat, chest tightness, or trouble breathing. People with heart or lung issues may have more serious problems like asthma attacks or heart attacks.
What to do:
Take it easy outside—reduce intense activities and take more breaks. People with health conditions should avoid long or hard outdoor activities and move events indoors if possible.
An air quality alert has been issued due to wildfire smoke until 9 a.m. on Monday, July 14, for all of Minnesota. Air quality is expected to reach the purple AQI category, which is very unhealthy for everyone, in the northern half of the state. The remaining southern half of the state will be in the red and orange AQI categories.
