#๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒฟ Attention, everyone! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒž

We're currently seeing **unprecedented levels of West Nile Virus (WNV)** in mosquitoes across our stateโ€”it's the highest we've recorded in over 20 years! ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ๐Ÿ”ฌ Our neighboring states are experiencing similar trends, so the risk is widespread.

๐Ÿšจ **August and September are critical months for WNV transmission**, and some areas, especially in western Iowa, are at even higher risk. With the potential for increased human cases, we all need to be extra vigilant!

Here are some tips to help you stay safe:
๐ŸŒ™ **Avoid outdoor activities in the evenings** when the mosquitoes are most active.
๐ŸฆŸ Use insect repellents containing **DEET** to keep those pesky creatures at bay!
๐ŸŒŠ Check your surroundings and **dump any standing water** to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

Letโ€™s work together to protect ourselves and our community! ๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŒ For more info on WNV, check this link: https://www.cdc.gov/west-nile-virus/index.html

Traveling with your little one this holiday weekend? Ensure a safe sleep environment no matter where you go. While older kids and adults might be fine sleeping on the couch or an air mattress, babies should always sleep alone, on their back, in a crib, bassinet or play yard (such as a Pack โ€˜n Play) with a firm mattress and tight-fitting sheet.

Have a fun and safe Holiday!!

Have a fun and safe Holiday!!

๐Ÿงจ ๐Ÿงจ ๐Ÿงจ
In 2024 Iowa had nine traffic fatalities over the Fourth of July weekend, making it the deadliest Fourth of July weekend in over a decade. No matter how you choose to celebrate, be sure you're staying safe, and never drive impaired.

To help prevent these tragedies previously seen around the holiday, the Governor's Traffic Safety Bureau is partnering with local law enforcement for a high visibility enforcement campaign July 3rd-7th. Through its Decide to Ride program, Doll Distributing is offering a $10 Uber voucher to encourage Iowans to plan ahead and make safe choices! Celebrate responsibly and let fireworks be the only lights in your rearview mirror! ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿš”๐Ÿš”
