Morning sickness (which really should be called all-day sickness, right?) is a tough part of pregnancy, but there are simple, supportive ways to ease the journey.

Some of my favorite tips I share with patients:
🌿 Vitamin B6 – a little nutrient that can make a big difference for nausea
🌿 Ginger everything – chews, tea, even fresh slices in water
🌿 Small, frequent meals – because an empty stomach = a queasy stomach
🌿 Carbs are your friends – permission to eat the bagel without guilt!
🌿 Switch your prenatal vitamins – try gummies if swallowing pills feels impossible
🌿 Acupressure bands – stimulate the PC6 point for nausea & anxiety relief
🌿 Acupuncture support – nourish your body and calm your system naturally
🌿 Manage stress with self-care – naps, nature walks, deep breathing 💛

Above all: Be kind to yourself.
This phase is challenging, but it’s temporary—and every day brings you closer to meeting your little one.

You’ve got this, mama 💛

One of my favorite ways to welcome the season (and support my liver) is with this easy, nutrient-packed green drink. Inspired by a trip where a simple green juice totally stole the show, I recreated my own version that's now a staple at home, and in my wellness routine! ✨

What’s in it + Why it’s Amazing:
🥥 Coconut Water – Hydrates & replenishes electrolytes
🥬 Kale & Spinach – Packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber for cellular support
🍏 Apple – Adds a touch of sweetness + fiber for gut health
🌱 Ginger Root – Anti-inflammatory, digestive support, and a little zing
🍋 Lemon – Detoxifies and boosts vitamin C
🥒 Cucumber – Hydrating and skin-loving
🌿 Celery – Hydrating, anti-inflammatory, and great for digestion

How to Make It:
➔ Blend all ingredients until smooth (I love using a Vitamix to keep all the fiber!)
➔ Store in a mason jar or individual glass jars for an easy daily nutrient boost
➔ Adjust the recipe depending on your needs—more ginger for spice, green apple for less sugar!

Spring is the season of the liver in Chinese medicine, and this drink is a simple, delicious way to hydrate, nourish, and reset your system from the inside out. 🌿✨

In Chinese medicine, spring is the season of the Liver - the organ responsible for the smooth flow of emotions, energy, and blood throughout the body. When the Liver’s energy becomes stagnant, anger and frustration can build up, causing more harm internally than externally.

Just like the trees begin to bud and grow, spring invites us to move, flow, and release stuck energy. 🌱

Supporting your liver health is supporting your emotional well-being.

Simple ways to harmonize this season:
🌿 Get outside and move your body
🌿 Hydrate and nourish with greens
🌿 Practice deep breathing to soften tension
🌿 Allow yourself grace as emotions rise and fall

Remember: You are meant to grow, not stay bottled up. 🌸

One of the simplest—and most effective—ways to support your nervous system and consequently the experience of stress in your body is through intentional breathing.

Deep breathing:
💨 Activates your parasympathetic nervous system (your rest, digest and repair mode)
💨 Helps release tension held in the Liver and diaphragm
💨 Can even reduce reactivity to allergens and inflammation

A study published in Frontiers in Psychology found that slow, controlled breathing reduced cortisol levels, heart rate, and signs of stress—even with just 5–10 minutes a day. Another study in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine showed that nasal breathing practices improved allergy symptoms and mood during allergy season.

Try this: Inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6. Repeat for 2 minutes whenever you feel agitated.

I am always sharing with my patients that spring is the best time for detoxification. We are literally in the season of the organ of detoxification. There are simple ways to support gentle detoxification—no intense fasts or cleanses necessary, but foods and habits that help your liver and digestive system.

Try adding these with some regularity during the spring:

🔹Bitter greens (like dandelion and arugula)
🔹Warm lemon water in the morning
🔹Lymphatic massage or dry brushing
🔹Daily movement
🔹Breathwork to support your nervous system/vagus nerve
🔹Sweating (sauna or a brisk walk - our new favorite is wearing a weighted vest while walking or doing chores around the house)
🔹Add in a green juice - We have shared our favorite recipe in the blog below.

To support a gentle cleanse:
🌱 Eliminate alcohol, caffeine, sugar, wheat, processed foods, or dairy consumption for 5, 7 or 10 days, or eliminate some combination of the above.
🌱 Focus on whole foods with a variety of vegetables, especially leafy greens and fruits.

In Chinese Medicine, the Liver is in charge of smooth flow of qi (energy), blood, and emotions. When that flow gets stuck or overwhelmed (hello - stress and nervous system overload), it can show up as:

🔹Pain, headaches, and muscle tightness
🔹Irritability, agitation, or even rage
🔹PMS or hormonal issues
🔹Digestive disruptions - acid reflux, noisy belly, or constipation
🔹Seasonal allergies and sinus congestion
🔹Feeling physically or emotionally "stuck"

This is the season when I see (maybe this is purely subjective) the most road rage. It is always a good reminder for me to practice patience. Awareness is powerful medicine.

Just like in Western medicine, the Liver in Chinese medicine is a key player in detox—but it goes beyond processing chemicals and medications. It also helps us process emotions.

To keep your Liver Qi flowing smoothly, move your body daily, schedule an acupuncture treatment, talk with a friend, journal, and make space to gently process anything that feels stuck.

In Chinese medicine, each season carries its own energetic signature. Spring is associated with the Liver and the Wood element, which govern growth, movement, and transformation. It’s a season of rising energy—like plants pushing through the soil. But this energy isn't always smooth.

The longer days invite us to move more and shake off winter’s dormancy. I love the awakening energy of spring—more light, more motion, more life!

As beautiful as spring is, it can also bring tension, allergies, and irritation when there is a disharmony in the corresponding organ associated with spring, the liver.

If you’re feeling the impact of spring allergies, you’re not alone and there’s a natural way to support your body through it.

This month, we’re highlighting Designs for Health's Quercetin + Nettles supplement, a clinically backed blend known for helping to manage seasonal allergies and inflammation without the side effects of traditional medications.

Why it Works:
✔ Quercetin – A natural antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer that helps reduce sneezing, itching, and nasal congestion
✔ Stinging Nettle – A traditional remedy shown to calm inflammatory responses and ease allergy symptoms

This formula combines 600 mg of quercetin + 600 mg of nettles per serving to naturally support your immune system and help you breathe easier this season. 🌸

🌿 Vegan, non-GMO, and free from gluten, dairy, and soy.
