GMCC staff is united in our mission!

Today kicks off our very own United Way campaign. Staff and volunteers pledge to support our United Way of the Virginia Peninsula by making deductions from our paychecks to help our neighbors in need. Our contributions will benefit GMCC patients AND other agencies in the region who provide vital assistance services across the region.

And we're gonna have some fun while we're doing it, with friendly competitions, random acts of kindness, snacks, and maybe a little costume contest.

We're in the business of helping, and giving a little extra goes a long way.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast cancer is the most common type of non-skin cancer in women in the United States. Notably, it accounts for about 30% of all new cancer cases in women. In the United States, about one in eight women—about 13%—will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

GMCC Oktoberfest was wunderbar!

Over a hundred friends from our community came together to celebrate the season with the Original Elbe Musikanten Band and Chef Brian Marshall, and to honor our 2025 Clinic Heroes: Charry Hudgins, Gerald Britt, Chesapeake Bank, and Sentara Health.

We also inducted our inaugural members of The 97, GMCC's planned giving society. Forever gifts ensure that the Clinic will be here for the next generation of Gloucester-Mathews neighbors who need it!

Thanks to all who participated in this annual event. Our 9th Oktoberfest raised $52,000 for patient care. Together we are making a difference!

Our Story

We are committed to everyone from Gloucester and Mathews Counties having access to basic healthcare and patient education.

The Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic was founded in 1998 by a group of parishioners from Abingdon Episcopal Church who were concerned about Gloucester & Mathews residents without insurance and unable to afford medical treatment or medications. Initially located in Hayes through operating space provided by Riverside Health System, we moved into our current facility in 2014. We have expanded from serving just over 100 patients in our first year to now over 900 patients annually.
