Beauport Ambulance would like to recognize two outstanding employees by presenting them with the Clinical Excellence Award!
In November, Beauport Ambulance EMT Dave Raymond and Paramedic Samantha Clark responded to a 911 call for medical assistance in the Town of Rockport. When they arrived, they found a patient experiencing a serious cardiac emergency. While assessing the patient, he suddenly became unconscious and his heart rhythm become unstable. Dave and Sam immediately recognized that he was in a complete heart block. Using their state-of-the-art cardiac monitor, they initiated external cardiac pacing, an emergency version of an implanted pacemaker. They were able to quickly reverse the patient's condition, likely saving his life.
This is a great example of what being in EMS is all about. Congratulations to Dave and Sam! We are proud to have you on the Beauport Ambulance team!
