WHAT IS ENLIGHTENMENT?

I don't know.

Any attempt to describe it will be just an opinion because, unless we are enlightened, we don't really know what Enlightenment is.

What matters is not to define the meaning of that word. What matters is to set the intention for growth, for self-improvement, for soul evolution, and find the path that actually results in inner transformation, which is unique to each one of us. I don't know what Enlightenment is but i've had glimpses of altered states of consciousness. Until one has them, one cannot conceive the experience of such states of being. They are beyond what's familiar to us. Same with Enlightenment.

i've worked for decades on inner transformation, walking the narrow path. I don't know what's ahead but I know what I've left behind. I know that radical change towards inner peace is doable, it is real, and it's life transforming. By reducing inner conflict, one reduces the energetic pool of conflict in the world. By increasing inner peace, one increases outer peace. Entering this path is the best contribution anyone can make to this troubled world.

"FORGET ABOUT THE PAST," they say.

i'm organizing a collection of several decades of letters to my family, and I'm learning a lot about how much i've changed, how much i've grown, matured, how much I've laughed and cried; mostly, how all the pieces make sense now. i still have lots of grieving to do. i will not forget the past that needs to be grieved. and i will not forget the affection expressed by so many people through the years, their support, their cheering me up, their appreciation, because those memories are still alive and nurture me today. No. I will not forget about my past. I'm still learning, growing and changing from it, I'm still being strengthened by it. By honoring my past I'm being pushed forward, and for that I'm grateful. DO YOU FEEL YOU DON'T BELONG OR FIT ANYWHERE?

Connection to oneself, to one's truth, weakens the feeling of not belonging, oftentimes stemming from unresolved losses and feelings of abandonment. Still, very deep within... there's the yearning to go Home, where one does belong...

FEARLESSNESS

Don't let anything make you feel anything is "scary". It comes a time when one reaches a level of fearlessness in which a glimpse of "scary" may show up and you automatically step back into the space of no-fear. This state is reached by consistently facing one's fears, always confronting them, always challenging them, sensing our wanting to run away from them and making the conscious decision to turn around and looking straight to their face. The more you practice this, the deeper fears begin to show up to be dealt with. It becomes an exhilarating experience, realizing that fear becomes the ground for feeling invincible over one's own weakness. The Spiritual Warrior.

RELIGION VS. SPIRITUALITY

The "religion vs. spirituality" narrative is divisive. Some religions (if not all, I'm no expert) carry much more than man-made concepts. I am spiritual/non-denominational, and worked as musician in Christian churches for decades. I've seen/experienced the corruption in the institution first hand. It took me a long time to separate the corruption from the sacredness that can be found there, both in scriptures and in people.

Truth is: there are many religious people that are deeply spiritual, and there are so-called
spiritual people that are fake and lost in spiritual bypassing.

Please beware of divisive language. It needs to be eradicated. It's often used with no bad intention but it's still harmful. Live and let live. Many find their connection to Higher Realms through religion, others don't. What matters is not "how" we connect to The Divine. What matters is the intention/ability to surrender to it.

TO THE BROKENHEARTED DUE TO A FAILED ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP

Oftentimes we feel drawn to people who are unavailable and hurt us badly. Subconsciously they remind us of toxic aspects of the relationship with our parents. We are drawn to partners with these characteristics in an attempt to fix/resolve/heal those old wounds.

It may help doing research on "the father wound," "the mother wound," and healing the inner child. Once the connection to these festering hidden wounds happens, when we become aware of them and grieve them/cleanse them, the situation with the hurtful partner will lose power and we'll be able to land healthier relationships.

"THE PAST IS GONE, JUST LET IT GO," they say.

The past is part of the present if the energy field of that experience has remained inside of us in the form of unhealed wounds. In that case the past is carried into the present. Something in me that's unresolved shapes my thinking, my actions, my feelings in the present. Ignoring it, using spiritual bypassing language such as "let it go", "the past no longer exists", does not help. One has to remain true to oneself. If the past hurts, it's calling you to grieve it and/or resolve it in some way. When that is done, life changes, one is transformed, we no longer carry that baggage.

ABOUT JUDGING OTHERS

Judging is a double arrow related to perfectionism, related to lack of self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness, believing that if one is not perfect one doesn't deserve to be loved. Those who find fault in others find fault in themselves. Practicing acceptance of oneself and others, one softens and understands that being perfect doesn't exist, being imperfect is part of the human condition, we are all flawed, a work in progress, deserving to be loved regardless.

ABOUT FEELING NOT SEEN

Feeling invisible, not seen, oftentimes comes from childhood trauma (which may happen in the best of families, with the best of parents). Abandoned children feel invisible/non-existent and the energy field of abandonment/invisibility carries over into adulthood until the childhood wound is healed. As one's healing progresses, feeling seen from the outside looses importance because one reconnects to oneself. Grounded on self-awareness, one "sees" all of one's emotional states and learns to transmute them. it's very deep, life changing work.

ABOUT RED FLAGS
Repeating toxic patterns point at unhealed wounds. We are drawn to situations similar to unfinished business in order to heal these wounds. For instance, children of emotionally unavailable parents will seek life partners who are also unavailable. This reconnects them to the original wound. Facing the original wound, re-experiencing the pain of disconnection from parents, grieving that loss, will bring healing and healthier relationships will become available. It takes great awareness and guts. Nobody wants to feel pain, we tend to run away from it, which perpetrates the cycle. It's about choosing to turn around and face our past. At least this is what's worked for me. Oftentimes we ignore the red flags because we are desperate for affection and connection. It takes recognizing that such desperation is the unhealed wound. Nobody in the present can heal a wound from the past. They don't have access to it. Only we can access it, and grieve it. Doing this type of healing inner work is self-empowering and it changes one's life many times over. It's not easy but it's worth it.
