Messages returned once a day Tues-Fri. With my family Sat, Sun & Mon. We are Sunny Patch Ranch! A unique place to come stay, play & pamper yourself! I am Shae Meller, wife to Spirit Meller & mama of Eva Mae (12) & Anya Belle (10). Together we have been in the process of creating a Coastal Farm Stay Lodge & Advanced Aesthetics & Laser Spa with the added bonus of being an animal sanctuary (non-profit status in process) & home for foster children. The road here has been long & bumpy but we’re full of grit & determination to do God’s work here. We appreciate you liking & sharing our page, visiting our ranch, staying at our lodge &/or being pampered in our aesthetics spa & if you’re so inclined, signing up to pledge to our Patreon account would be appreciated more than we can adequately express:

I’m down 52 lbs as of today… 38 to go… It’s been SOOOOOO slooooowww… only about 1.2 lbs a week but at least it’s going down, people are starting to approach me, noticing the loss & I went from wearing an XL shirt to a semi-snug (lol) L shirt. I’ll take It!!!

I haven’t worked out since the new year but I did my first running training class this morning 🏃‍♀️ because Spirit signed up for some crazy 196 mile, 33+/- hour, relay for next August & I’m going to train for it with him. I doubt I’ll actually run in it but since (not if) I’ll be conditioned for it, I can be a backup for if someone falls out.

Send me all your prayers for the strength to stay the course 🙏🏼💪🏼🙏🏼

Plant PSA:

I had a client ask me about ‘Zombie’ plants because she bought an Albo Monstera cutting in August that hasn’t produced a new leaf yet, so I thought this would be a good time to provide a little education on plant cuttings…

First of all, zombie leaves either don’t have any nodes OR both the terminal & auxiliary node have to have been exhausted (meaning grown out & chopped off). If you have a plant cutting with a non-exhausted node, she absolutely will produce an auxiliary node & give you new petioles & leaves BUT, it may take awhile… read on for why…

This is because cuttings spend their energy on root growth first. They’ll not produce new leaves, & existing leaves may even die off, while they’re working on developing their roots. Once their roots are well established & they have adequate nutrients & light, they’ll start producing new leaves.

Additionally, it’s important to know that variegated plants, particularly white variegated plants, typically grow slower because they have less energy production than non-variegated plants This is because the white parts are essentially dead, there is no chlorophyll to produce energy. They take from the plant, rather than give…

It took my original, highly variegated Albo monstera cutting (circled on the left in the photo) about 9 months to start producing a new leaf & is already on its second new leaf. But she is a TINY little thing. Beautiful in all her whiteness but just doesn’t have enough green to help her mature quickly. She’Il get there but I have to be patient & honestly, I enjoy her at this size.

I also have two Thai Constellation monsteras (two circled on the right of the photo) that were purchased at about the same time, one fairly minimally variegated & the other half moon. The minimally variegated plant is more than four times the size of my half moon. It simply has more energy production capabilities.

Once they switch their energy production from roots to leaves, the leaves will take off but the rate at which they grow will have to do with genetics, light, water, nutrients, pests, etc. There’s no way to compare one plant against another nor how well it did at the nursery, store or garden vs how well it will do in a new environment with different care & conditions.

I’ll start posting more about how I care for my several hundred plants to see if I can help others know & grow well too!

‼️IMPORTANT‼️

The girl’s school & sports seasons are upon us & my time with them is growing shorter & shorter & shorter as they grow up & pull away, toward lives of their own…

I have been seriously considering taking a sabbatical, in order to give myself fully to them as a mother, but it doesn’t seem fair to pull the plug on those of you who have worked so hard to reach & maintain your health & skincare goals with me over the years either… plus I really enjoy my work & our time together!

So, with these considerations in mind, l am changing my work hours in the spa from 8:30-4, Monday-Saturday, only one week a month. It will take me a couple months to make this transition but I want to make you all aware ahead of time.

Also, I am working toward moving to membership only by the end of the year, with only 30 openings. With this change, I will no longer be taking new clients, unless a membership space opens up. I’ll be discussing this with each of my regular clients at your next appointments, to be sure you’re first on the list & anyone else that is interested can reach out to me to be put on the waitlist.

I appreciate all of your love & support of the the girl’s, myself & my business over the years & appreciate your continued love & support as I navigate these last few precious, & rapidly passing, years with them.

Please pray for my mama heart🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼

Yesterday I transferred all of my Calathea to self watering pots & all of my Alocasia to nutrient water, as a transition to semi-hydro. I’m hoping this makes them easier to take care of, for my housesitter in particular.

I farmed a ton of corms & the day before I potted up some of my corm grown Alocasia, potted up a massive 8” string of hearts from propagations I’ve been growing in my greenhouse & trimmed up some of my mother string of hearts to make more for you all. I also split some of my mama Alocasia for you all but they’re mostly sold already. I’ll post prices & whether or not they’re sold on each photo in the comments below.

I’ll be unavailable until Friday. Have a great week!

Our Story

My name is Shae Mordja & I am the single mama of Eva Mae & Anya Belle. My now ex-husband & I bought this land sight unseen from the internet in 2007 & when we drove up from Arizona to see what we bought, we fell absolutely in love with Gold Beach! We altered our lives & worked hard for years to build this home with dreams of raising our family here but, well, life happened & by the time the home was finished being built, the girls & I moved into it alone in December of 2018. In July of 2019 I opened our home as a family & pet friendly bed & breakfast & at the end of October 2019 I opened my esthetics spa out of the ranch house. It’s been quite the year!

I am a former Chandler Police Officer, turned stay-at-home mama, turned Licensed Aesthetician & Aesthetic Laser Technician in Arizona & Licensed Esthetician in Oregon. I pride myself on my honesty & integrity & am ridiculously passionate about skincare which is a fairly unregulated industry with an unfortunate number of unethical people pushing ineffective or unnecessary products & services on trusting consumers. I have training & licensing in everything from basic facials, keratin lash & brow treatments, full body treatments & waxing to advanced chemical peels, laser, radio frequency & ultrasound. I am scientifically minded & results driven so I do extensive research, training & whatever available continuing education is available for everything I offer & I only offer what I research to be the very best in professional products, equipment, services, procedures & the like. If there is a product or service that I know to be better for you than what I offer, I will always research the very best place for you to be properly taken care of collaborate with various basic estheticians, advanced estheticians, doctors & med spas across the country.

In addition to esthetics, the girls & I run a family & pet friendly bed & breakfast out of our brand new, light & airy 4600 sqft ranch house on 52.5 acres. We are developing an agritourism farm stay where our developing, family farm/ranch is open to guests who stay with us & are able to enjoy the luxury of "living" on a farm, if even for only a day. We currently have two indoor/outdoor dogs; 15 year old deaf & almost blind rescue Beagle, Killian & our 1.5 year old rescue muttley, Scotch, two outdoor rescue cats; Saber & Rocky Rogue, an 18 year old rescue horse; Daisy, a miniature horse given to us by a friend to keep Daisy company; Cocoa Puff AKA Eeyore, four goats given to us by a rescue & friends; Twix, Birdie, Max & Duke & an ever changing number of bunnies because, well, they're bunnies & they do that, haha! Like/Follow this page to watch the progression of a dream, as we will be posting everything as it happens! Much Love, Shae, Eva, Anya & all of the Sunny Patch Ranch Critter Crew
