The Relaxation Effect
One of the immediate benefits of massage is a feeling of deep relaxation and calm. This occurs because massage prompts the release of endorphins, the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) that produce feelings of wellbeing. Levels of stress hormones, such as adrenalin, cortisol and norepinephrine, are also reduced. Studies indicate that high levels of stress hormones impair the immune system.
When your body is relaxed, your nervous system responds with a lower heart rate and improved breathing. Deep sleep becomes easier to achieve, because your muscles remember the sensation vividly enough to recreate it at home, which enables you to enjoy a healthier life.

"I can feel that in my teeth" a client/patient exclaimed as I held a point behind the shoulder blade.

Referred pain is always an interesting phenomenon that often occurs with my technique of massage therapy. Integrating acupressure with trigger point release relieves pain, trauma, and hundreds of common complaints. By relaxing the body and relieving stress using these techniques has great results for strengthen resistance to disease and promote wellness.

Tension concentrates around the trigger and acupressure points. When a muscle is chronically tense or in spasm, the muscle fibers contract. As an acupressure point is held, the muscle tension yields to the finger pressure, enabling the fibers to elongate, blood to flow freely, and toxins to be released and eliminated. Increased circulation also brings more oxygen and other nutrients to affected areas. When the blood and bioelectrical energy circulate properly, the body has a greater sense of well-being.
