Gratitude doesn’t have to mean disappearing.

For many of us, “be grateful” used to mean “don’t bring up what hurts.” That kept the peace once but it also cost parts of us.

This year, you’re allowed to try something new:
“I appreciate you, and I need us to leave comments about my body out of tonight.”
or
“Thank you for inviting me. I’ll come for dessert and head out early so I can stay rested.”

Gratitude and honesty can sit at the same table.

You can keep the warmth that feels good, and gently set down what asks you to go quiet.

Sometimes it’s the quiet things: the check-in text, the shared meme, the person who remembers how you take your coffee.

This SATURDAY, 11/8/25 the Sacramento (CA) chapter of AFSP is hosting an in-person event in honor of International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day. This is a FREE event for Survivors of Su***de Loss and requires advanced registration.

And on Saturday 11/22/25, the Central Valley (CA) chapter is hosting a virtual, free event for Survivors of Su***de Loss and requires advanced registration.

And we're honored to provide support to both these events.

FYI: International Survivors of Su***de Loss Day is an event in which survivors of su***de loss come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through their shared experience.

Facts: Did you know in the United States su***de is the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10-34? And the 4th leading cause of death for ages 35-44? And the 5th leading cause of death for ages 45-54? And 1.5 million Americans attempted su***de? And LGBTQ+ youth seriously contemplate su***de at almost four times the rate.

Have you been thinking about starting counseling/therapy for yourself, your Teen, or your family? And you are in California?

We have a special opprtunity allowing us to offer affordable counseling to California people and need your help spreading the word to make it available to those 16 yrs and older! And we need clients/referrals to be able to sustain this gift.

This gift I speak of … His name is Michael & he’s a third year doctoral student immediately available for individual & couples counseling on Mon & Wed between 12-8pm. He’s especially passionate about supporting Teens (16+), Young Adults (18-26), and Adults (18+) navigate anxiety, depression, stress, school challenges, relationship issues - dating, marriage, family - managing life transitions. Services are In-person in Gold River, CA and/or online throughout CA.

Cost… rates are set at $65-$85; however, as a student intern under supervision at Lotus Warrior Wellness Center, we’re privileged to be able to accept rates that work for the individual (including free). So, for ANYONE interested, cost is not to be a barrier.
