Aaaaand just as the business is about to make its biggest transformation, we hit 1,000 followers š¤
I have some big feelings surrounding this mini milestone. Iām a high achiever and I channel it towards my passion and purpose of being a wellness practitioner, not sales. An entrepreneur needs to do both. When I was in massage school, I cried during my final business class presentation because I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I tried using social media to get clients for my massage business but it rarely worked. Instead, my work spoke for itself and people referred others to me, filling my schedule quickly.
Sauna was a different story. I struggle with marketing and presenting therapeutic sauna because of my desire to be authentic and to truly educate the public on what health and wellness is over what was popular. Social media prioritizes and sells your product when it has popular elements including high energy songs and conventionally sexy, exposed bodies, two things that are not a part of my brand. The Atacama was for quiet and deep rest, the opposite of what people are accustomed to at community sauna. Social media content creators are eeeeexpensive for this solo business owner and I wasnāt convinced that they were able to present my brand the way I want or in a way that honors where I see sauna in the future. Sales and marketing people are screaming inside, but thatās my truth and Iām working on it.
Iāll stop being a bummer and get to the good stuff. I stopped measuring the health of my business with the number of followers and started to focus on WHO I served. The people who came to the Atacama came for a reason: they deeply respected the healing nature of sauna and there was nothing else like it in the Twin Cities. They needed heat, space, peace and quiet and thatās what they got. I know all but a few of these 1000 followers are real humans who came here for real sauna content. I cannot tell you how thankful I am that you are even remotely interested in what I have to say about sauna and what the Atacama has to offer.
With that, all Iāll say is⦠thereās a lot more to come and I hope youāll keep following along šš„
