At David Hoy & Associates, we proudly stand with the LGBTQIA+ community—not just in June, but every single day.

We believe mental health care should be affirming, inclusive, and safe for everyone. That means showing up, speaking out, and creating space for all identities to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Whether you’re exploring your identity, processing past experiences, or just need someone to talk to—you are welcome here. Exactly as you are.

Healing Happens in Community
You don’t have to go through life alone.

Whether you’re facing anxiety, grief, stress, or just the weight of being human — having people who truly see you can make all the difference.
Community gives us:

-A sense of belonging
-A place to be heard and understood
-Support when things get heavy
-Laughter, connection, and hope

If you’re struggling, reaching out isn’t a burden — it’s a bridge.

Let’s keep building spaces where mental health is talked about openly and compassion is the norm.

Break the Stigma. Start the Conversation.
Talking about mental health shouldn’t be taboo.

The more we speak openly, the more we normalize getting help — and the more people feel safe to reach out.

Let’s create a culture where:
– It’s okay to say “I’m not okay.”
– Therapy is seen as strength, not weakness.
– Mental health is part of the health conversation.

Stigma fades when we replace silence with support.
Let’s keep talking.

How to Support Someone Struggling with Mental Health
You don’t need to have the perfect words — just being there matters.

Here are a few ways to show up with care:

1. Listen without judgment.
Let them speak freely. You don’t have to fix it — just hear them.

2. Validate their feelings.
Say things like “That sounds really hard” or “I’m so glad you told me.”

3. Ask how you can support them.
“What do you need right now?” goes a long way.

4. Check in regularly.
A simple “thinking of you” text can make someone feel less alone.

5. Encourage professional help.
Remind them that it’s okay to seek therapy — and that it’s a sign of strength, not weakness.

You don’t have to be their therapist. Just be their person.

And if you need support too — that’s okay. Helping someone else starts with taking care of yourself.

Phrases That Break Stigma: Sometimes we mean well, but the words we choose can still hurt. Here are small changes that offer more support and understanding.

Stigma grows in silence and careless language.
Let’s choose words that build connection — not walls.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is not forgotten.

As we observe Memorial Day during Mental Health Awareness Month, we also recognize the invisible wounds that many service members and their families carry — grief, trauma, and the weight of remembrance.
If today feels heavy, know this:
You are not alone. You are allowed to grieve and support is always available.

Let this be a day of reflection, remembrance, and compassion — for others and for yourself.

Move Your Body, Support Your Mind
Exercise is one of the most powerful (and free) tools to support your mental health.
Even small amounts of movement can help you:

-Reduce anxiety and depression
-Improve focus and energy
-Sleep better
-Boost your mood through natural brain chemistry
-Feel more connected to your body and breath

You don’t need to run a marathon. A walk around the block, gentle stretching, or even dancing in your kitchen can make a real difference.
If you’re looking to build better habits or feel more in control, therapy can help you take the next step.

Struggling with focus, emotions, or motivation? It might be your sleep.

Sleep isn't just rest — it's essential mental health care.

Getting enough quality sleep helps your brain:
✔️ Improve focus & decision-making
✔️ Regulate mood & emotions
✔️ Build memory and problem-solving skills
✔️ Cope better with stress and change

Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to anxiety, depression, and even risky or impulsive behavior — especially in teens and young adults.

The good news? Sleep can improve — and therapy can help.
At David Hoy & Associates, we offer therapeutic tools and support to help address anxiety, overthinking, and habits that may be interfering with healthy sleep.

Because rest isn’t a luxury. It’s a foundation for healing.

Put it on the page — not your shoulders. 🖊️

Journaling is one of the simplest ways to care for your mental health. You don’t need to be a writer. You don’t need a plan. You just need a few quiet minutes and something to say — even if you don’t know what it is yet.

Journaling can help you:
🧠 Sort through thoughts
💬 Name emotions
📉 Ease stress and anxiety
✨ Boost clarity and calm

Try writing:
– What’s been on my mind today?
– What am I avoiding?
– What’s one thing I need right now?

And if what you write feels heavy — you don’t have to carry it alone.
