“Families should have the autonomy to birth the way they feel is best for their body, rather than feeling rushed or dictated by external medical guidelines. Listening to one’s gut, particularly in something as primal as childbirth, should be given more importance. This principle extends beyond childbirth to decisions about breastfeeding and personal health, reinforcing the critical role that our instinct plays in navigating life’s most significant moments.” –Pamela Stone, DC, DACCP

“Your upper body, especially your rib cage and thoracic spine (that’s your upper back), is crucial for comfortable breathing, managing pressure in your core, and even preventing issues like diastasis recti (abdominal separation) and pelvic floor dysfunction, and has a huge impact on birth ease and efficiency (yes—the upper body actually has a ton to do with easier birth! I always assess and work with the ribcage when I am helping someone prepare for easier birth).

When these areas are tight or restricted, it can make breathing even more challenging during pregnancy.

The good news? There’s help with shortness of breath during pregnancy, and it starts with understanding how we breathe.”

“Yes, I know, children are not adults. But they are not as different from adults as some people apparently believe. Like all of us, children need some privacy, some trust, some opportunities for unsupervised independent activity. And as they grow from toddlerhood to early and middle childhood, to adolescence, they need ever more of that. It’s called growing up.” - Peter Gray, PhD
