Great quick tip here (shared on Quora by a military veteran), that can help slow down your busy mind when it’s preventing you from falling asleep. In my Integrative Health Coaching practice, I frequently help our clients at Healing Source to develop a comprehensive set of habits that can dramatically improve the quality of their night’s sleep. These habits are collectively referred to as good sleep hygiene.

High-quality sleep is one of the most important pillars to your overall state of health and well-being… including its effect on achieving and maintaining a healthy weight, managing your daily stress, having sharp, clear, agile mental acuity and memory, and being able to enjoy the positive social connections and important relationships in your life!! Fun fact: This technique described in the shared article, also called “box breathing” or “square breathing,” is a wonderful quick exercise that you can use at ANY time in your stressful day, when you could use a brief meditative time-out, to reset your mind and bring yourself back to an immediate state of calm and centeredness.

In this moment, I’m finding myself grateful for… well… this moment!! Life is NOT perfect. My hair isn’t done, there are clouds in the sky, and even a few raindrops sprinkling down on my walk. Change is always difficult… and there is nothing BUT change happening in my world right now! And we all can acknowledge that our shared reality in this nation is quite tumultuous, to say the least. And yet, in this particular moment, I find joy in simply being alive. Breathing fresh air as I enjoy the beauty of an early summer morning in Colorado. Glad to be standing upright today. Appreciating the many kindnesses that my dearest friends have shown me over these past few weeks. I don’t need to wait for any better moment to arrive, to say thank you to the universe for WHAT IS, right here and now. 🤗🥰☺️ I hope this resonates with some of y’all out there experiencing some of your own imperfect moments…
