Many people think they’re lazy when they can’t push through fatigue or burnout, but laziness is a judgment, not a diagnosis. What’s often happening instead is nervous system dysregulation.

When the body perceives ongoing stress, it may move into a freeze response. This is the dorsal vagal state, where shutdown replaces motivation. Your body is trying to keep you safe. True healing means understanding how to activate safety again.

We are wired for safety through relationship, not isolation.
If you’ve felt stuck, disconnected, or shut down, this may not be a personal failure. It may be your nervous system asking for support.

This is what so many women discover after years of bloating, exhaustion, poor sleep, and hormone chaos, not because they weren’t trying hard enough, but because no one ever connected the dots.

What changed wasn’t another protocol, it was understanding that the body wasn’t broken.
When the nervous system begins to feel safe, digestion can wake up, sleep can deepen, and mornings don’t have to start with anxiety anymore.

If this resonates, listen to the full episode or reach out.
Your body isn’t broken. It’s been surviving and it can learn a new way.

Your digestion, your sleep, and your hormones often get treated like separate problems.

Different doctors, tests, and fixes but what if they’re all connected?

Chronic stress doesn’t just live in your mind, it lives in your nervous system and when that system is stuck in survival mode, the body shifts its priorities. Digestion slows, sleep becomes lighter and hormones fall out of rhythm just to protect you.

So many people I work with have been doing “all the right things” and still feel stuck. That’s usually the moment we stop asking what’s wrong with the body and start asking what the nervous system has been carrying.

If this feels familiar, you’re not imagining it. Sometimes healing doesn’t start with fixing another symptom, it starts with helping the body feel safe again.

Struggling despite doing all the ‘right’ things? Your nervous system might be calling the shots. Here are 5 signs your nervous system is driving your body out of order.

We spent our weekend at Logan’s swim meet. It was so exciting! Logan is in lane 8 and finished 2nd in his heat, taking off over a second on his 100 back. He was thrilled with the time drop—lots of time and hard work were put in to achieve that!

Your body doesn’t have unlimited resources to make hormones. Estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol all come from the same raw materials. When stress becomes chronic, the body prioritizes survival, and it diverts those resources toward cortisol to manage perceived danger, anxiety, or overwhelm.

This process is called the pregnenolone steal and it can have a major impact on PMS.

Lower progesterone, more estrogen dominance, creates increased irritability, anxiety, bloating, poor sleep, and painful cycles. This is why treating hormones without addressing stress often falls short.

Sometimes the most powerful way to support PMS is to support the nervous system first!

What if you didn’t have to fight your body and could finally partner with it?

On Monday, January 26th at 6:15pm, I’m hosting an in-person class designed to help you understand what your body is actually doing during NSA care.

We’ll explore the layers of this work such as structural, neurological, emotional, and mind-body, so you can see why such gentle touch creates such profound change and even more importantly, how to support your healing between sessions.

Most people think NSA care is only about the spine, but it’s really about evolving the patterns living inside your nervous system. Patterns that shape how you breathe, how you hold stress, and how you move through your day and your life.

If you’re a Body in Balance practice member, this class is essential for deepening your care and creating lasting, meaningful results. Many people come back again and again because as their nervous system changes, their perspective changes too. Every time, they walk away seeing something new!

Again, this is an in-person class! Please register with the BIB Team to reserve your spot, I can’t wait to see you there!

If you’ve ever felt like your body is carrying something you can’t name,
you’re not alone.

Stress doesn’t always leave when the moment ends.
Sometimes it settles in your shoulders, breath, sleep, and in the way you react without meaning to.

For so many people I work with, this is the part no one ever explained.

In this week’s podcast episode, I walk through what actually happens inside your nervous system when stress or trauma goes unresolved and why your body keeps responding as if the danger is still here.

Not to scare you, but to help you finally understand the patterns that keep you stuck.

If you’ve been doing all the “right” things and something still feels off,
this episode may help you make sense of what your body has been holding.

If this resonates, I’d love for you to listen. Take some time to listen to Episode 16 " Why Your Body Keeps Score of Stress (And How to Heal It)"

I’ve been thinking a lot about how stress doesn’t just happen in our minds, it settles into our bodies. Most of the time, we don’t even notice it until everything feels tight and overwhelming.

Lately I’ve been asking myself simple questions throughout the day:
Where is the stress sitting right now? Is it in my shoulders, breath, or gut?

Just noticing has been surprisingly powerful, because once I’m aware of the pattern, I can offer my body a small reset.

Three slow belly breaths, gentle stretch through my spine, and hand over my heart to say, “You’re safe. I’m here.”

These aren’t big practices, but they help my nervous system soften and recalibrate. Just tiny, consistent reminders that our bodies don’t have to hold everything alone.

If you’re noticing your own tension building throughout the day, you’re not alone. Your body is communicating with you, not failing you and if you want support learning how to listen more deeply, I’m here.

Have you ever wondered why your body still feels tense long after the stressful moment is over?

Most people think stress ends when the situation ends, but the nervous system doesn’t work that way.

It doesn’t ask, “Is everything okay now?”, it asks, “Are we safe yet?”

For many that I work with, the answer, deep in the body, is still no.

Not because they’re doing anything wrong, but because years of chronic stress, emotional overload, and push-through-it living have taught their system to stay on high alert.

This is why you might still feel tired, tight, or wired, even when life looks calm on the outside. Your system isn’t broken, it’s patterned, and patterns can change.

If this resonates, you’re not alone.
Your body is asking for support, not judgment.

Reach out if you’re ready to understand what your nervous system has been trying to tell you.

Ever notice how the more stress you hold, the more little “oops” moments seem to happen?

The tripping over nothing, forgetting why you walked into the room, emotional snap at the dog who did absolutely nothing wrong? That’s not you being messy, that’s your nervous system waving a tiny flag saying, “Hey… I’m overloaded” and that’s where my work comes in.

A little release, a little recalibration, and a little reminder that your body is allowed to breathe again.

If you’re tired of the stress-induced slip-ups, reach out and let’s help your system unwind.
