Meet our providers: Nate Riechers, MD

Dr. Nate is a proud Colorado native, attending the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduating Summa Cum Laude in Psychology and Physiology. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Colorado prior to completing his residency training at the University of Utah. He has been with Denver West Pediatrics since 2021.

Dr. Nate chose to become a pediatrician because he is constantly inspired and energized by the resilience and positive energy of children. He believes strongly in preventative medicine, striving to keep kids healthy in addition to treating illness as it arises. He has special interests in mental health, nutrition, and obesity. He also takes pride in providing equitable care for all patients regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation. He loves teaching as a Clinical Instructor for the CU School of Medicine and can often be seen mentoring medical students in clinic. He feels extremely privileged to have the opportunity to take care of children and enjoys helping families navigate all the exciting and challenging times that childhood brings.

When he is not hanging out with awesome kids at the office, Dr. Nate can be found traveling and exploring the great outdoors with his wife, family, friends and dog. He is an avid skier, mountain biker, and volleyball player as well as an aspiring but thoroughly average golfer. He also enjoys playing piano.

There have been two confirmed cases of measles in Colorado within the last week, one in Pueblo and one in Denver. Both of these cases were in unvaccinated people who had recently traveled to Mexico. There are several small measles outbreaks elsewhere throughout the country, and one large outbreak still ongoing in Northwest Texas. As the situation continues to evolve, our practice is diligently monitoring this quickly evolving situation and doing our best to comply with current CDC guidelines as possible with our current limited supply of MMR vaccine. The most important guideline is for every child to receive their usual dose of the MMR vaccine at one and four years of life. Also, there are now circumstances where it may be advisable to give a baby between the ages 6 to 11 months an additional, early dose of the MMR vaccine. This would constitute an extra dose and does not replace the need for the usual MMR vaccine at one year of life. The CDC guidelines currently recommend this preliminary extra dose for infants who will be traveling internationally or to an area of active measles outbreak. Currently, our local area does not currently qualify as an area of outbreak. However, we want to be forward thinking and prepared when it comes to the possibility of additional local cases in the near future. For this reason, we will be doing our best to offer an early, extra dose of the MMR vaccine to all babies between 6 to 11 months old. We are currently working on the logistics of being able to get enough of the vaccine in stock to successfully administer these extra doses, and we appreciate your patience as we work to do so. We also have a limited amount of vaccine appointment availability each day, but we will do our best to accommodate as many patients as quickly as possible. If you would like your 6-11 month old child to receive this extra MMR vaccine dose, please give our office a call. Please note that we unfortunately have no control over whether insurance coverage for an MMR vaccine will be covered for infants under the age of 1 year. The out-of-pocket cost for this immunization is estimated to be just under $100.

Meet our providers: Lea Buck, PA-C

Lea has been a PA in pediatric primary care for over fourteen years, and her passion for pediatric care has grown and solidified over that time. She finds it an honor and a privilege to come alongside parents on their journey of raising kids, and becoming better humans themselves in the process. During her career she has been able to hone her style as a provider, and has accepted the fact that she will never be fast at seeing patients! Luckily she believes good patient care can't be rushed, and she appreciates being able to have longer visits where she can get to know families and truly be able to listen, teach, and collaborate with them.

Lea is a graduate of Clemson University where she majored in Biochemistry, and the Medical University of South Carolina where she completed her PA training in 2008. She has called Colorado home since 2008, raising her four children in this wonderful place.

Lea's special interests include education and support for breastfeeding, mental health, and parenting. She loves finding ways to expand her knowledge about ADHD, parent-child attachment, and the growing field of interpersonal neurobiology.

Outside of work she loves to travel, laugh at her 2 silly rescue dogs, and play board games as well as LEGOs with her kids. Lea also loves getting book recommendations from patients!

It is with great sadness that we let you know of the recent passing of Dr. Gini Taylor on January 12. As many of you know, she valiantly endured various cancer treatments and surgeries for over a year in hopes of returning to Denver West Pediatrics to resume caring for all of you who were her patients.

She loved all of you with a passion and commitment rarely seen in the practice of modern medicine and there was nothing that she found more fulfilling in this world than connecting with each of you.

She will be dearly missed by all of us who were lucky enough to enjoy the benefit of her friendship and doctoring. We are so sorry to be the bearer of such difficult news. We will be doing our very best to continue on in Dr. Gini’s tradition of providing the best possible care for your children and adolescents in her honor.

We are in touch with Dr. Gini’s family and we will send out an email through Follow-my-Health to notify you about plans for a future Celebration of Life later this year.

Meet our providers: Ann Konieczny, PA-C

Ann has been with Denver West Pediatrics for 18 years after growing up in Boulder and completing her Physician Assistant training at the University Of Colorado. Ann is renowned for her ability to be incredibly thorough while maintaining a lighthearted and comforting presence. She appreciates the privilege of listening and assisting parents as they support their kids through the ups and down of parenthood. Ann is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and is an accomplished pianist and piano instructor. She enjoys hiking, running, making music, and has learned to enjoy baseball, especially when watching her two sons play.

Meet our providers: Dr Jim Campbell

Dr. Campbell has been with Denver West Pediatrics since 2003 and is best known for his incredible breadth of medical knowledge, caring demeanor, and awesome ties. Dr. Campbell believes in tailoring the care of children to fit the individual needs of each unique child and his or her family. Before receiving his medical degree from Stanford he was an aerospace engineer working on projects for the Space Shuttle and Space Station! He also serves on the board of directors for Chinese Children Adoption International. Outside of the office, Dr. Campbell enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and especially enjoys camping and mountain biking.
