Did you know? Exposure to wildfire smoke can cause mild to severe symptoms. It's important to know these symptoms so you can respond quickly and head to a space with cleaner air if you think you or someone you know may be experiencing a smoke-related illness. Look for these signs:

This morning, air quality in Goldendale is GOOD, AQI: 29
However, areas near Horseshoe Bend and Klickitat are seeing much higher levels of smoke:
🔴 Horseshoe Bend AQI: 159
🟠 Klickitat AQI: 132
These levels are unhealthy for sensitive groups and bordering on unhealthy for everyone. Please take precautions, especially if you or your loved ones have heart or lung conditions, asthma, are elderly, pregnant, or have young children.
- Check news, social media and local reports for the latest air quality status.
- Avoid physical activity outdoors when conditions are "unhealthy", "very unhealthy" or “hazardous.”
- Keep doors and windows closed but be mindful of hot weather as this may pose health risks for overheating.
- If you have an air system/AC run on recirculate and close fresh-air intake.
- Take extra care if you have a heart or lung condition, diabetes, are pregnant or over 65, as well as infants and children.
- Seek medical attention if the smoke is effecting your health.
