GV Optometry opened the community in 2017 and hopes to provide excellent service with highly trained staff, advanced equipment, electronic medical recording, and exceptional doctors. GV Optometry is an independent practice located inside Magnolia Center, owned and operated by Dr. Cailyn Katsev, Dr. Julia Katsev, and Dr. Carter Andersen. Dr. Cailyn Katsev graduated in the class of 2017 from Univers

ity of Missouri, St. Dr. Cailyn Katsev is an alumni of both San Marcos high school and UC Berkeley. Dr. Cailyn Katsev recently moved back to Santa Barbara to join her father Dr. Douglas Katsev, MD at Santa Barbara Eyecare. She is so excited to be back the the SB community!! Dr. Carter Andersen is also a graduate of Southern California College of Optometry, and has been practicing primary care optometry in Santa Barbara and Goleta since 2011. A native of Santa Barbara, Dr. Andersen is an alumni of both San Marcos High School and UC Santa Barbara. Prior to earning his doctorate degree he completed externships at the Veterns Affairs Hospital and SW Blind Rehabilitation Center in Tucson, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, and The Laser Center in Seattle. He is licensed to prescribe therapeutic agents, certified to treat glaucoma in patients over 18, and provides co-management for pre- and post- operative care in LASIK and cataract patients. Dr. Andersen loves getting out into the ocean along the beautiful Santa Barbara coastline, and enjoys spending time with friends and family!

Here at Santa Barbara Eyecare, in both locations, we pride ourselves on having the most advanced technology in Ophthalmology and Optometry. With these instruments, we can detect even the earliest signs of eye diseases and provide the best treatments.

The instrument pictured is called an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) we use this non-invasive imaging test to detect macular degeneration, glaucoma, and other corneal diseases. This is one of our more common tests- you have probably seen it in the office!

Most people are aware of how harmful UV radiation is to the skin. However, many may not realize that UV radiation can harm the eyes. Therefore, whenever you spend time outdoors, wear quality sunglasses that offer UV protection and a hat or cap with a wide brim. Also, certain contact lenses we carry in the office can provide additional UV protection.
