Notice of temporary closure in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Santa Barbara Children’s Dental Practice
Dear parents and children,
We hope that this message finds you safe and well. We are all facing uncertain and scary times, but hoping that we will all ride the storm and come out better as a local and global community.
We wanted to reassure all of you that strict infection control practices have always been first and foremost in our practice, and that has not changed since the outbreak. We have taken extra precautions with removing the toy box, and constant wiping down of all surfaces in the office.
But even with the best infection control practice, dentistry, by its inherent high-risk for aerosolizing saliva and blood, is a potential source for spreading the Covid-19 virus. In addition, it is now known that individuals including children can be carriers of the virus for a certain window of time with mild or no symptoms.
After much deliberation and firmly convinced with all the currently available data, we have decided to close the office temporarily for at least the next 2 weeks, 3/16-3/29. The closure will be in accordance with and help to enforce the social distancing recommended by the CDC. We all need to do our part in FLATTENING THE CURVE NOW, potentially saving our hospital resources for the sickest among us.
We will reach out to each of you to reschedule if you are currently scheduled to be seen in the next 2 weeks.
Of course we will monitor the situation closely and hope to re-open when it is safe to do so.
I will remain on call for any emergencies.
