We’re proud to shine a light on Dr. Sheryl Harvey, a cornerstone of care at Parkside Family Practice for the past 9 years!

Originally from Jamaica, Dr. Harvey brings her passion for small-town healthcare to our Cuero community—where she’s been caring for patients and families with skill, compassion, and heart.

🏥 Board Certified in Family Medicine with Obstetrics, Dr. Harvey has dedicated her career to providing comprehensive care—from welcoming over 359 new babies into the world to supporting patients through every stage of life.

💪 She is also Board Certified in Medical Weight Loss and trained in MedSpa procedures such as Botox and fillers—helping patients look and feel their best, inside and out.

As Medical Director of Parkside Family Clinic and former Chief of Staff at Cuero Health, Dr. Harvey continues to lead with excellence. She also played a key role in the rollout of Cuero Health’s new EMR system, helping ensure better care and connection for our patients.

As your little ghosts and goblins get ready for a night of fun, here are a few spook-tacular safety tips to keep everyone safe and smiling:

🕯️ Be seen! Add reflective tape or glow sticks to costumes and trick-or-treat bags.
🚸 Stay together. Walk in groups and use sidewalks and crosswalks.
🍬 Check treats. Make sure all goodies are sealed before eating.
🎭 Choose safe costumes. Avoid masks that block vision and opt for flame-resistant fabrics.
🚗 Drive carefully. Slow down in neighborhoods—kids may be hard to see after dark.

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Melinda Fitts, DNP, FNP-C 🌟

We’re thrilled to celebrate Melinda Fitts, one of our dedicated providers at Parkside Family Clinic, who recently earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP)! 👏🎓

Born and raised in Yorktown, Melinda’s roots in our community run deep. Growing up, her family was cared for by the beloved Dr. Harold High, who inspired her childhood dream of becoming a doctor. Guided by her strong faith in God, Melinda followed His plan—one that blessed her with a beautiful family and led her to her true calling in nursing.

Melinda began her career as a Labor & Delivery nurse at Cuero Regional Hospital, where she compassionately served for 17 years before transitioning to primary care as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

At Parkside Family Clinic, she provides care for patients of all ages and is especially passionate about women’s health. Her doctoral research focused on the importance of mammograms for minority women and those with limited access to care, reflecting her deep commitment to ensuring health equity for all.

💛 With her unwavering compassion, hometown heart, and dedication to her patients, Melinda Fitts, DNP, FNP-C continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of those she serves.

🌟 Provider Spotlight: Paul Willers, II, D.O. 🌟

Dr. Paul Willers discovered his true calling in rural healthcare while attending medical school with plans to become a pathologist. Originally from Lake Jackson, Texas, he found that he preferred the sense of connection and purpose that comes with small-town life. During a rotation with a family physician who practiced full-spectrum family medicine, Dr. Willers realized he had found his place—caring for patients across generations and forming lasting relationships built on trust and compassion.

Since 2016, Dr. Willers has been a dedicated member of the Cuero Regional Hospital medical staff, providing comprehensive family care to our community. His leadership and service extend beyond the clinic, having served as Chief of Staff from 2017–2021, and currently as Chief Medical Officer at Cuero Regional Hospital. He also serves as Medical Director for Obstetrics at CRH, Cuero Nursing and Rehab, Whispering Oaks Rehab and Nursing, Harbor Hospice, and Main Street at CRH.

Dr. Willers is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and a prior delegate of the South Texas Chapter of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP). During his residency at Houston Methodist San Jacinto, he served as Chief Resident. His commitment to advancing rural medicine continues through his work as a rural rotation preceptor and faculty member with the Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency Program in Bryan–College Station, as well as Adjunct Faculty with the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is also a published author, contributing the chapter “Does the Patient Have an Adrenal Mass?” in Ultrasound for Primary Care by Dr. Paul Bornemann.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Willers enjoys hunting birds and deer, watching soccer, and spending time with his wife and three boys. He also loves collecting and restoring classic cars and trucks.
A favorite quote that guides his approach to patient care is from Sir William Osler:
“The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”
