Ascension Oaks residents took part in a St. Joseph Altar this week in our chapel.

Saint Joseph altars are primarily a Sicilian tradition featuring a three tiered, meatless and decorated table representing the Holy Trinity and thanking Saint Joseph for answered prayers. The tradition dates back to the middle ages as a thank you to Saint Joseph for saving Sicilians from famine. This tradition is particularly observed in New Orleans and across southeast Louisiana.
